it's 1976 - what would you be doing right now?

it's 1976 - what would you be doing right now

ok so there is no internet, no google

no nothing pretty much as far as i am concerned

we actually used pens with ink in them

we spun records

we danced

we breahed outside and had real fun

in person with real people (in the flesh)

our friends

so again I ask?

it's 1976 - what would you be doing right now?

Seeing as I was 6 in 1976, I'd be sleeping. It's after midnight on a school night. lol

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I was 11 yrs old then, so I would be going on a lot of school trips, play double dutch, hopscotch, skelly, red light, green light, spin the bottle, run catch and kiss, ride my bike and going to my neighborhood park, right across the street from my old residence. I don't see too many kids this active anymore because I believe that technology has made them lazy and obese.

In my room drawing, or talking to my little boyfriend who lived next door through our windows or watching the movie of the week or some show or listening to some long drawn out lecture from my dad or aunt or grandmother or making necklaces or fussing at my dog budget or reading, all ready for bed.

i'd have been 7.

the uk had heatwave weather & severe drought that year, hottest since records began. we'd never even heard of sun cream & getting sunburn was part & parcel of summer.

i remember that my mum was upset that her lawn had turned brown.

i would have just gone back to school after the summer holidays, where i would have spent every possible hour playing outside with the other kids from our estate.. in between mealtimes we'd be riding bikes, skating, skateboards.. pissing the neighbours off as we kicked balls against their walls & hopping over their fences to get them, spent time at the beach, played down the harbour at the lock gates

as the end of the day would draw near, the kids would get tired & create aggro & start fights.. then the parents would start calling us in.

always a bath before bed

lovely memories of the days where mum did everything for us,

around that age i seem to remember charlie's angels, lassie, tizwas, swap shop, lone ranger, zorro, black beauty & man from atlantis on the telly..

music wise, the osmonds, abba & showaddywaddy featured heavily

holidays usually consisted of a week in a static caravan, butlins or some other cheezy holiday park down 'the west country' lol

OK, reading what excited said, I could be boozing whilst getting a tan! and I could be writing songs and taking photos with a Pentax K1000 and saving all my money to make my own darkroom.

I'd have been 17 in 1976.

I'd be at basketball practice.

Then I'd rive around in my 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix.

I'd be listening to KISS, Aerosmith, and disco.
