OMG this is just sad. From what I could see it looked like she hit her head on the elevator railings on her way down. Add insult to injury he didn't even try to pull down her skirt or shorts when she was laying in the elevator doorway.

She also lied when she said it was her fault for attacking him first...typical battered woman syndrome behavior?

Breaking news....the Ravens just terminated Rice's contract. I hope he doesn't take it out on her.

I hope things don't get worse now that he's out of work.

Good for them. Not because I don't like the Ravens. It was have just

been bad business for the team considering the circumstances and the

evidence. He will get another shot somewhere but he needs to focus this

season on getting himself some help.

Ain't a thing hidden these days, is it? You know I'm not feeling greatly empathetic for either one. Maybe I've seen too much crap from both ends. Keeping your hands to yourself seems like a excellent rule of thumb to live by for both sides.

All I can hear in my head is Erykah Badu's song "Get Money", that's not very nice of me. sigh

But in the meantime, the wifey better pack and run because now that he's out of work, it's on. Should have known this was going to come back, and haunt him.

A lot of it does happen 'behind closed' doors because the perpetrator (male or female) are cowards. They both need help.

Well, if she married him for his money, then this is going to be a quick divorce now that he's out of a job.

He should never be allowed to play in the NFL again. Plus, his teammates need to beat the living shit out of him.

No man hits a woman. EVER (absolute life-threatening situations excluded, and this certainly wasn't one).

Any man that hits a woman is not a man at all. He's nothing but a pussy.

The Baltimore Ravens announced the release of Ray Rice on Monday.

Shortly after, an NFL spokesperson announced that the running back has been suspended indefinitely.

A video emerged on TMZ of Rice punching his now-wife in an elevator. Rice was previously suspended two games on July 24 for violating the league's personal conduct policy for the same incident.

The Ravens supported Rice as an organization in the immediate aftermath of the incident back in March, but the release of this video changed their stance. NFL Media's Judy Battista was told the Ravens heard a "softer" version of the events included on the videotape. The NFL said Monday that they had not seen the video during their investigation.

"We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today," the league said in a statement released to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Since Rice's suspension, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced sweeping changes to the personal conduct policy concerning domestic violence cases. Violations regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force "will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games for a first offense." A second offense will result in banishment from the NFL for at least one year.

Goodell expressed regret about the league's handling of Rice's suspension in a letter to NFL owners on Aug. 28.

"My disciplinary decision led the public to question our sincerity, our commitment, and whether we understood the toll that domestic violence inflicts on so many families," Goodell wrote. "I take responsibility both for the decision and for ensuring that our actions in the future properly reflect our values. I didn't get it right. Simply put, we have to do better. And we will."

Rice was entering his seventh season in Baltimore, including the last five years as a starter. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection who signed a five-year, $40 million contract extension in July 2012. Bernard Pierce and Justin Forsett are next on the Ravens' depth chart at running back, but this decision was not about football.

What is sad is Baltimore people will be more mad at losing a football player. Rice could sue the team for breaking his contract.

We have to watch out because this will be used by the right to demonize black males even more.

I always suspected that the NFL kept the tabloids from getting the video footage from the INSIDE of the elevator because Ray Rice is worth a lot in the football world. Now all of a sudden TMZ "breaks" the story and gets the footage of the INSIDE of the video when the video of the OUTSIDE just shows him dragging her on the ground. She could have been drunk for all we know if you just look at the outside of the video, so it doesn't make Rice look like the badguy. Now, we have the video on the INSIDE which I always suspected was the most incriminating piece of footage that was deliberately being kept out of the public eye. This is going to really bring some serious consequences to the entire league and its credibility. How can they honestly think people are going to believe that this videotape just NOW surfaced and was shown to them and the commissioner?? Please....

I find the misogony on both sides of the issue interesting. One side is saying Ray has the right to punch his wife unconscious if she slaps him. And the other side saying women in general are harmless and no real threat to a man so a man should never strike back. I 've seen on other message boards people comparing a grown woman to a toddler in terms of threat level. WTF?

And herein lies a huge part of the problem, especially since she already publicly "apologized for her role" in the melee.....this is going to be interesting to see how this plays out and especially because so many women who are with football players could always threaten to ruin their career by filing false reports of domestic violence. It will roll out the red carpet for extortion for sure.

Interesting that he should be banned for life but folks with known "isms" can simply carry on with thier lives and careers. Dude is a 100% chump for beating a woman and should be punished but it seems a bit harsh 2 effectively end his career.

Reminds me of the Vick situation yet there are folks around the world killing animals every single day of the week for sport. None of those folks are in prison. It would be great 2 see a bit of common sense when it comes 2 handing out punishment for everyone across the board. It seems that the brothers ALWAYS take the hardest hit.

Of course..........we all know race has nothing 2 do with his punishment. If that is your stance, show me another player and any other sport banned for this same action. I'll wait.

I just thought of something else. Doesn't anyone find it suspect that the NFL from DAY ONE said this was a domestic dispute but the only thing the public saw was a woman being dragged from an elevator? That means these dummies knew all along it was a domestic dispute. Does the league think people have short memories or something? I wonder how this is going to effect sports betting and fantasy football.....

I should probably watch the video before commenting but I'm reluctant. What I will say is I wish these black athletes would get it together. Now we have another black face to be the representative for domestic abuse in the media.

America has it's priorities mixed up.

Rice should never be allowed 2 play in the NFL agains but:

1. A privately owned bank know as the Federal Reserve Bank should be allowed 2 rob the US citizens blind to the tune of billions $ per day

2. Politians should be allowed to sell it's citizens to highest bidder at the State and Federal level on a regular basis.

3. Racism, sexism, and ageism is rampant around the World.

4. The exploitation of woman and children are at an all time high.

5. The US is involved in several wars around the Globe including supporting the nonsense over in Isreal.

I could go on for days.................but I won't.
