Well I won't spoil it for you by giving details but lets just say that if this season will be showing a whole lot more of Luciano, Lansky and Capone, this it'll be one of the BEST seasons yet, but if we are going to see more and more of the "flashback" scenes (you'll know what I'm talking about once you see this episode), then we'll be in for one boring season.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

i have to say ... i watched that episode a few times ... i like it ...

the flashbacks work in my opinion ... even howard stern raved about it ... saying it was the best boardwalk empire in a while ...

I watched it a couple of more times myself, I definitely wouldn't call it the best BE in a while...the flashbacks aren't quite as annoying as they were when I initially watched it, however, I still enjoy seeing Luciano and Lansky. I can't wait to see Capone and what will ever become of Van Alden. And then there will be the showdown between Chalky and Narcisse. popcorn

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I even looked up online what happened to the real arnold rothstein ... i wonder if they will show some flashbacks with him ...

Well, although it would be great to see Rothstein in flashbacks, it's looking like they are only reserving the flashback storyline to Nucky's childhood. Shame too because I like Rothstein. He was so smooth, calm, cunning and precise. I loved his style. I really liked how the writer's showed him somewhat vulnerable last season when we were able to see Rothstein's confidence crack a little.

Did you see last night's episode yet? To me the season is still lukewarm but I'm almost betting that it's going to speed up with a bang very soon. I'll have to re-watch the episode again though, I feel like I missed some small details that will be important somewhere down the line. I really do love seeing Luciano and Lansky at work though...I beginning to get somewhat of a crush on Luciano. mushy

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Ahhh, that's a history note there that the show just didn't bother to explain (for those who aren't up to par on famous mafiosos but I'm happy to explain for you biggrin )...but somewhere in the late 1920's, Luciano was badly beaten and stabbed and nearly died from this encounter, which resulted in his droopy eye look (and also could have resulted in his "lucky" nickname). Another fun fact for you....although the actor portraying Luciano is really cute, it's quite interesting that in most movies/tv shows that Salvatore Luciano is often portrayed by actors who have the "dark hair/dark eyes" classic Italian look when in fact the real life Luciano looked more "European" than Italian.

If you look up Maranzano, then you'll pretty much predict the outcome on how that will play out in the show as well. biggrin

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

sigh I keep waiting for this season to take off and it's still slow as a snail. I'm really trying to work with these flashbacks but they are getting to be quite annoying. Why do we care or would we care about Nucky's childhood working for the Commodore? We all knew that Chalky was eventually going to kill his counterpart from the chain gang, but why did it take him the whole episode to do it? Urgh. We all know what Chalky could do, he could have easily grabbed the gun from the guy, killed him, and then went on his way. I loved that Carolyn Rothstein saw straight through Margaret's BS and told it like it was. Now she's having to run back to Nucky to be bailed out? Really Margaret? Girl bye.

Next week's preview indicates that Van Alden will be found out as formerly been a federal agent. My thing is, I'm surprised that this didn't come up sometime last season. I know they sort of danced around it a bit...and then with Eli working with them now, I was sure that Eli would have recognized him but according to the three episodes we've seen so far, all Eli is concerned about is drinking too much and crying at night.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

well put .

yeah last nights episode kinda left me ... wanting more .

i totally agree with you about CHalky ... they pulled that out . I have enjoyed the flashbacks .. I have a feeling now they will show his first wife (who died - was it from childbirth ? i forget that ... i should remember these important facts ! )

Yes totally agree about Eli ... altho I do think that Eli was the younger brother ... and even in the flash backs like with his sister dying .... you see how he has been the "less strong" brother ... reminds me alot of my grandfather and his younger brother ...

Isn't it 6 episodes left? I thought that there were 10 episodes in this season and the one that just aired yesterday was episode 4.

This season isn't terrible, but judging by the episodes aired so far, it's definitely the weakest of the 5.

Boardwalk is showing the same conceit that made True Blood even more of a yawn than I thought it would be: a backstory that should have been aired 2 seasons ago.

Why waste critical time on trying to show the audience who Nucky is? We already know who he is -- Jimmy Darmody's fate told us all we needed to know. And even if it hadn't, they waited too late to tell us. When in the world did last seasons of fading shows turn into origin stories? I hope this isn't a harbinger for things to come with GoT.

That being said, they are -- FINALLY -- beginning to focus on the compelling Capone-Luciano-Lansky storylines. And Chalky's about to re-enter the picture. Like the whole series, Boardwalk's swan song could be more about "what could have been" and wasted bandwidth.

I like the show, but goodness.

They were the best-written and acted exchanges of the season.

Hopefully, the show will "get out of its own way" for the rest of its run.

Agreed (because the performances are so good across the board), and that's why so many of us have stuck with Boardwalk.

As for TD, it was so good S1 that it may be downhill from here. I doubt it, but am looking forward to seeing S2.

I agree. This one packed a few punches. The threads are being woven in together.

I actually like the Van Alden-Eli storyline; it's playing out almost like a dark comedy.

I laughed out loud when Van Alden told Eli he refused to be ruled by fear and then immediately jumped when his wife called him. lol

I always found Van Alden's second wife Sigrid to be quite hot.
