Serena has carried the torch for U.S. women's tennis for years, yet some of her fellow Americans hate on her because of skin color. Shameful.

Fuck 'em! As of yesterday's US Open Championship win, her 18th Grand Slam win btw, she's in a 3-way tie as the Greatest Female Tennis Players in American History with Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. With just one more, she'll OWN that all by herself and as long as she stays healthy, I have no doubt that she'll be getting it sometime next year. So they can just get ready to kiss that big Black onion of hers because she'll be holding on to it, for a long time to come! razz

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I'm sure someone is going to find ANYTHING they can! To get her disqualified from next year.

Hang in there Serena! You can do it....

Oh I'm sure they will TRY! Because they've been doing that all along, from way back when her and her sister's hair beads, then their father, then their grunting, then their choice of outfits were "a problem". rolleyes Like I said, fuck 'em! I'm so not worried in the least little bit. razz

I think it is actually more about her carrying that torch. It gets boring after a while. People want to see good tennis no matter how you slice it. Let's face it. Maybe a bit sexist too. Ratings for men's tennis are way higher. Women's tennis could use a Navratalova/Evert type rivalry again. But with Serena - that not gonna happen soon. She's great......but not for ratings.

Serena has a ways to go before she gets there.

Is Martina an American? Maybe she is?? Anyway, I hope Serena gets her 23 wins before she calls it quits.

Here is another reason that Serena is not so popular in the tennis world. Still - has nothing to do with race. http://bleacherreport.com...ke-a-loser

US Open 2014 Men’s Final TV Ratings: Čilić And Nishikori Struggle To Draw Viewers As CBS Bows Out

The 2014 U.S. Open will be remembered for many things, particularly the media coverage. CBS bowed out after 47 years of covering the famed tennis major with one of the lowest rated finals in history. With a match lacking tennis’s big names and beginning at 5 p.m. EDT on a Monday, there was little surprise that Marin Čilić’s straight-sets victory drew just a 1.9 overnight rating, down 32 percent from Rafael Nadal’s win over Novak Djokovic last year, reports Sports Business Daily. It was also less than half the 4.0 rating drawn by the women’s final between Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki, played on Sunday.

...The last four women’s finals have significantly out-rated the men’s, in part because of scheduling, but also because each featured American star Serena Williams.

Now I love Steffi but there is definitely an asterix against her Slam numbers. Monica Seles was dominating the Slams before a lunatic stabbed her because she had overtaken Steffi at number one - Steffi won a swag more while Seles was out of the game.

Its wonderful that Serena is playing so dominantly, she's a phenomenal athlete and should be admired while shes still playing - there will be a massive void in the game when Serena and Venus are no longer competing, and that eventuality could only be an injury away.

She might be the greatest female tennis player of all time. What a career she's had!

And when Serena goes, who'll take over for U.S. women's tennis? The men's side has been dead for years.
