Mirrors.... the most hated objects in the world.

Everyone says they're interested in truth, but psychologists and behavioural scientists have long known that this is nonsense. In fact people go out of their way to avoid unpleasant truths pretty much all the time. But most people don't know they're doing it, hence the title of this thread. No-one wants to look in the mirror and see just how many topics they are wilfully deceiving themselves about.

If your nose is attuned you can see this literally everywhere. It seems to be a defining feature of our species.

Some people have mirrors posted all over their house. I think it's for at least a couple of reasons, one they like to look at themselves, two they don't like making too many mistakes in how they present themselves (that's the best way I can phrase it). Could be more reasons I haven't thought of. So, I'm skeptical of the op statement.

On a generalized point I do question if on average people really want truth or trust, I see that as two separate things, though not opposites.

I had a room that I made into 2 rooms. It's south facing and dark so I put in a mirror opposite the window to brighten things up.

Recently I've moved my studio in there and my desk is up against this mirror.
I like it because I can look behind me into the street without the in my head. But several times a day my own reflection takes me by surprise, not always in a good way lol
I'm the mistake you wanna make

Yep, I don't like looking in mirrors. I know the truth and accept it about my age showing but I just don't care to look at it. confused

Some of you guys are being a bit too literal. This thread is not really about mirrors, guys. That's just a metaphor for self-awareness.

But hey, feel free to discuss mirrors if you like. I like them with wooden frames myself.
