Don Pardo, the voice of "Saturday Night Live," has died at 96 years old. An NBC spokesperson confirmed the news toThe Hollywood Reporter that Pardo passed Monday night, Aug. 18. No details regarding the cause of death have been released.
He was with "SNL" dating back to the first season in 1975, introducing the weekly hosts and musical guests, along with the cast. Beginning in 2010, Pardo began pre-recording his parts from his home in Arizona, rather than appearing live for the weekly show.
Before "SNL," Pardo was a longtime announcer for NBC. In fact, it was him that announced to the viewing audience that an attempt had been made on President John F. Kennedy's life in Dallas, Tex. in 1963. He was also the original announcer on both "Jeopardy!" and "The Price is Right."
