Social Media Loves Violence.

Whenever i'm on my lunch break and check facebook, youtube, the news etc.

I noticed people LOVE violence and gore. Even though they claim to hate it and want peace. Almost daily someones posting videos of animals being slaughtered, aborted babies, children being shot, people being beat to death, gay people being burned alive etc.

When you ask why? ''bro it like makes a statement! bro! yeah! fuck the man! and fuck people who eat meat! and fuck people who are baby killers man. I signed a few petitions and i talked about it on facebook! i really did something here bro. Fuck all you sheeple.

Seems people love posting these shocking videos and pictures. Just to get reactions confused then say ''THIS IS REAL LIFE! THIS IS WHAT'S GOING ON! WAKE UP PEOPLE''

Then all they do is sign a petition (Which may or may not do shit) and talk about it on facebook. And through that believe they're changing the world rolleyes

I really am starting to wonder about these types of people. They seem to almost get off on violence, gore, and peoples reactions.

Shock tactic works for some not for me. That is why I unsubscribed to PETA a long time ago. I feel we need to personally volunteer and use our energy in order to combat all forms of oppression.

I personally am very selected about my friends. If A friend loves to post violent stuff I deleted them from my social apt and essentially speak less to him or her.

Well C'mon Teletubby Teleport Us to MARS!!

Well some argue that facebook is for drama loving individuals aka "Drama Queens." The same arguement could go for those videos too.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Just today I read about an anti-dog facebook page that shows beatings, hangings, dead animals, etc and encouarages animal abuse and killings.

Hundereds of people have reported it and every one of them has been told that the page does not violate any of facebook terms.

I never, ever watch videos that have any type of violence towards any person or animal. I don't have the desire to see it.

People post violent and disturbing videos (and yes, I consider people getting beaten or punched out disturbing) like it's entertainment on this site all the time. I've never watched any of them.

I have no desire to watch stuff like that. Don't even want to read news items about this stupid shit. I don't think it's entertaining or interesting in any way. Doesn't even make me feel sad or angry. It's just a waste of time.

Guns, I know what you're talking about and have unfriended several people over it. Yes, everyone has a right to free expression, and I have a right to stick my fingers in my ears.

The thing that is really bugging me now is people re-posting rightwing bullshit and saying "this is so outrageous and awful". Meanwhile they are acting like PR agents for these "awful" people, legitimizing them. I take the point that you can't ignore evil, you have to confront it, but you don't have to confront every idiot with an opinion.

"Block" and "Unfollow" are powerful commands when it comes to ridding your life of this shit. I use Facebook largely to promote my bands so I have a lot of people on there I don;t know personally. If one of them is obnoxious, all I do is Unfollow, then I don't have to hear them and they can still get my announcements about the gig I am playing this weekend, then we can take it up face to face if we really want to, and we probably don't.

And when someone really pisses me off I can Block them and keep them out of my life completely.

Erin brought up another good thing. People post fights up all the time too. Seems people like it when ''worldstar'' moments happen.
