I know what you mean, but most of us grew up with the guy and felt like we knew him a bit and it's so hard to think he would end this way. I'm so touched by it and I know why. I think I'm more heartbroken by his demise than MJ. With MJ most of us knew it will end sadly, but with Williams a guy so lively all the time, no. It's always disheartning whenever anyone dies. Hugs to anyone going through this disease.

Yeah I kinda see what you mean about the differences between the deaths of MJ and Robin. They were both in a fish bowl. I guess people always expected Robin to be happy and cheer everyone else up, but who ever asked him if he was happy himself? The news of his Parkinson's disease probably put him over the edge. I read reports he hadn't been seen in public in about three weeks. Maybe his illness was rapidly progressing, moreso than the usual cases. I was so shocked when I saw it come across my news feed that I had to check two other websites to see if the news was true. His death is tragic and painfully ironic. The one who cheered US up and made US laugh died with pain in his heart. That's really hard to imagine that...

Thanks for posting this. Believe it or not, I just watched this video about two weeks ago. I came across it by accident when I was watching another video of a team of researchers interacting with these amazing animals.

Debated on getting 'Good Will Hunting' today. Target had it for $5 and if you buy 3 - $5 movies, you get one free. So I actually got it (along with Black Swan, Notebook, and a 4-pack of love movies). I really did like the movie but was influenced by his death, when I purchased it.

When I also saw there was 'Three's Company' and 'I Dream of Jeannie' for $5, I thought of 'Mork and Mindy'.

It's been a while since I've seen it but it was heartwarming and sad at the same time. I think he got the Oscar that year for it (will have to doublecheck) but rightfully so

His only win was for Good Will Hunting. Dead Poets Society was one of his nominations, along with The Fisher King and Good Morning, Vietnam.

Thanks for clearing that up Cerebus, I wasn't sure if he got the Oscar win or not but sounds like he was nominated. It was a brilliant movie. I might watch it again soon. I hear Netflix is streaming all of his movies and Lauren Becalls movies for the next few days/weeks etc.

I understand how you feel. But, a lot of people didn't know (or in my case forgot) that Robin did a lot of work overseas with the USO organization to cheer up troops who were deployed. But you're right, I can't remember the last time a president mentioned an actor's death, under these circumstances, especially since there's a lot of unrest elsewhere.

Because he did alot for the TROOPS which is more than i can say than our govt and people have done, we have forgotten them, Robin was over there more than the last 3 presidents combined, who actually put them there. Also "depression" needs to be discussed in the big picture, and like things that never get talked about like guns, depression gets swept under the rug as "crazy People stuff" or give them a pill, or this or that. Depression effects more than AIDS and CANCER and yet it gets less attention than Bed Bugs and Eubola. And Robin was far from HOLLYWOOD lets get real, the guy wasnt at parties and events, but he did do alot of charity and things for the troops when others DID NOTHING.

When I worked with the late Mr. Williams in the movie "License to Wed". He was always turnt up to a HUNDRED! He seemed like a lost child begging for attention. But it was always a sadness under the surface. It was like he felt obligated to constantly be the LIFE of the party! I wondered how did his wife handle that constant energy he had? I had a friend the same way, who was constantly going non stop. He was bi-polar also.

Its sad to know that the cancellation of his sitcom "The Crazy Ones" put him in a deep depression. He felt responsible for it. Because he carried the show. He viewed it as a "personal failure" . Maybe if the network gave it a chance, he would still be here on earth. It kept him busy from his inner DEMONS.

This a big lost in Hollywood. It really saddens me.

a canceled TV show, or maybe a canceled stand-up Gig, his Rocky personal relationships...Something else always happens that affects people battling depression & addiction. They have to work extra hard at learning how to "cope"..It's a lot easier for them to let the Demons take-over..

Looks like there was no funeral. His ashes were scattered in SF.
