Lighting hit my house last night...

I've had some weird things going on lately! So, last night there was a terrible storm and all of a sudden, it sounded like a bomb had blown in my bedroom. I know it was lightning but not sure where it hit exactly. The heating and air unit is right outside my bedroom and it stopped working immediately so I think it struck that, although it may have encompassed the entire house because a t.v. and a cordless phone were blown out (t.v. came back, phone is done for) I know lighting hits things but I am so freaked! Has anyone ever had this happen? It was so freaky and so loud! I don't know how some people live through being struck by lighting, it was such force, like I've never seen from nature- my whole house shook- humbling...

Are you in southern California? I was watching the news this morning and heard that lightining hit a beach area here and one person died from it neutral

Well Thor did make an appearance in this area so...I'm assuming you're in SoCal.

It is very unusual for this part of country, this time of year, which is why it caught all those people at the beach by surprise.

Must have been scary at your house, I've never heard of such a thing. I know when I visited back east when I was young they talked a lot about turning off the tv and radio during a thunderstorm and never talking on a phone during one, something about lightening balls.

Yes! I saw after posting this of all the damage and houses (and people!) hit by lightning. I swear I never realized just how powerful and scary lightning was (duh, I know) but it sounded like a bomb went off in my room. From now on if it starts to rain, I will stay away from windows and if outside come in! Good lord!

I have only experienced it once and the whole area I was in went dark after the bomb like sound. I dont know how people like lightning/thunder storms shake

OMG, a thunderstorm by the ocean. I love it. I just have no desire to be standing in it.

I luv lightening and thunder storms
I luv how the bolts strike and how they light up the darkest sky
I luv hearing the power of thunder

I wish they didn't cause damage but I really enjoy watching them

This reminded me of a Dave Attell (genius comic!) joke, from his album Skanks for the Memories (paraphrasing):

'Some people think that, if you get hit by lightning, you get special powers. Me, I got the power to shake on the ground and shit my pants. Hmm...will I use it for good or evil?' hmmm

falloff
