English Muffins are on the left. Biscuits on the right. Clear difference. At McDonalds if you buy a mcmuffin you get English muffin. They have some breakfast sandwiches called a biscuit.

Ok then let's get this straight....
Muffins are muffins
English Muffins are English Muffins
Scones are American biscuits
Biscuits are cookies
Cookies here are a bigger flat round cake like biscuits

And..... Now Im Hungry

Nope. Scones and we call "biscuits" in America are similar in texture, but while scones can be more on the sweet side, "biscuits" tend to be more savory (and fluffly). What I consider a "scone" is what I see at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts...specifically meant to be eaten with a cup of coffee. A biscuit can be made into a sandwich by putting bacon, egg & cheese into it. Or eaten with chicken gravy doused atop it as in the picture above (gonna have some good old fashioned Southern biscuits-with-gravy next week!!!). THAT being said, I'll give you my contribution...the SEMITA. I was referring to the texture and the look, not the flavor. I have eaten both, scones and biscuits, many times and I find that biscuits look more like scones than muffins, albeit with a savory taste. Scones are often eaten with whipped cream and jam, served with tea, but personally, I prefer tea with savory stuff and , like you said, sweet stuff like scones with a cup of good, strong coffee. Just like in Holland. wink

It´s interesting though that some cultures prefer savory snacks with black tea, and others have no problem with tea and sweet snacks. I always have my sweet snacks and cakes and stuff with coffee.
