SPOILER ALERT!

Man, Archie Comics has changed a LOT since I was a kid. Last time I checked in, Archie was chasing Veronica and Betty; Jughead was trying to score free cheeseburgers; and I think there was a dog.

It has now been revealed that Archie will sacrifice himself in an assassination attempt on the life of Kevin Keller, the military veteran and newly elected senator whose own husband was involved in a shooting. Via Mashable:

"We wanted to do something that was impactful that would really resonate with the world and bring home just how important Archie is to everyone," said Goldwater. "That's how we came up with the storyline of saving Kevin. He could have saved Betty. He could have saved Veronica. We get that, but metaphorically, by saving Kevin, a new Riverdale is born."

It was on the news this morning. The comic has changed over the years.

This is a separate universe Archie comic. They are just ending this series. Archie and the gang are still back in Riverdale High School.

Bravo to the Archie Comics creators for staying current.

But I would like to see another Archie Comic Universe, like a hard rated PG-13 or damn nearly rated R version, where Betty & Veronica are both bi AND in a relationship with each other plus Archie.

Well, RIP Betty and Veronica. I hope they didn't suffer too much. It really will be a new Riverdale, I guess.

Yes, there was a dog named Hotdog. I think he was a Sheep dog. Used to love watching "The Archies" on TV when I was little. I used to get up early in the morning (when the show came on TV) waaaay before everybody else to watch it. I used to think "The Archies" was the shiznit when I was about 6-8 years old.
