Katt Williams drew a gun on someone at the Comedy Store in West Hollywood Tuesday night ... triggering a 911 emergency that ended with deputies racing to the scene with guns drawn.

Eyewitnesses tell TMZ ... Katt was inside the club when a heckler started talking smack about the comedian's height and race. We're told Katt was not on stage ... he was milling around. An eyewitness says he went crazy, threatening the heckler with a gun.

At that point someone called 911 -- reporting a man with a gun at the Comedy Store -- and 6 cop cars raced to the Sunset Strip. Deputies pointed shot guns and bean bag guns at the club as they prepared for a confrontation.

Turns out ... Katt had already left.

So far no arrest warrant has been issued for Katt. Cops tell us they're still investigating.

I'd like to retract my "still crazy" statement, and thereby change the title of this thread. Besides it being a judgement on something I've no business judging (Katt's life), it's too broad and dismissive, and does nothing to help this dude if he does indeed have mental health issues.

I will say in my defense, Katt has to realize that he's given the general public plenty of reason to label him as such. Still not my place. Good luck pimp. pimp2

I like him & respect where he came from (homelessness) and where he got to, also like the fact he adopted all those kids & looks after them.
I admire his honesty too, always had a soft spot for the brave stand up's - Pryor, Carlin, Hicks, Chappelle, Stanhope, Griffin...

Yes, exactly. I see a big difference between him and some young punk trying to get into daily news. It is just a gut feeling I have. I have heard many a time that Prince was and is not someone that falls in the middle of the bell curve of normalcy. To my understanding there are plenty of places that Prince doesn't go alone and plenty of times that someone else deals directly with the public for him. Some may see that as a regal air that Prince puts on, I see it as someone who simply knows what he's better off leaving to others.

I really do not know anthing about him. I have seen a small portion of his work; all of it I found to be very original in it's point of view and spot on when I thought about it.

I don't know that much about him either but have seen quite a few of his stand up shows & a few interviews.
The ones he did with Howard Stern went into quite a lot of his personal life if I remember correctly.
They may still be on YouTube.
I am aware of a certain amount of drama & "crazy" stuff that was reported on in the past but I only heard about a few things what with not being in the US.
Also I don't know how much of it was reported truthfully or fairly.
