Never read the book. May be why I'm not bothered by episodes since I don't know what is going to happen. And how long will this show drag on for?

The show is so damn cheesy confused watched season 1 with my roommate and laughed our asses off.

Why are King movies ( At least back in the 80's and 90's) really good at acapturing the books? the mood, feel, and characters.

The TV Movies are always overblown, cheesy, over the top, and CHEEEEEEESSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE central. Why is this? lol

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I agree. I looooove his books...but WAY too often...nearly always, he movies come out as cheese. I'm currently doing through the stand for the first time. Great. I watched through part one of the like 6 part TV movie. TERRIBLE. Just fuckin TERRIBLE. The only two movies of his that came off good was Stand By My(the body) and The green mile(still a touch of cheese.

I think some of it is stereotypical characters. The mist represented the book well, it just wasn't a great boom. The books generall gives much room for back story and reasons for their stereotypical behaviors r given and expounded upon continually throught the novel. That's difficult to pull off in a time constrained visual/audio medium I believe. Without that, they just appear as cheesy, on demension people and places. The 'places' in kings novels r usually integral characters...which as the dome is. But in the domes novel, the town back story is continually addressed and even mapped out and its not just a northeastern hick town. Oops...big mistake. Misery was a great movie as well. Because the writer, crazy bitch and the house it happened in are all well addressed. Minimum number of characters, which is also rare for a King novel.

That's said...even his screenplays r shit

I've read just about all of King's work, but the movies upset me.

I did like "Shawshank Redemption", "The Green Mile", and "Misery".
The ending to "The Mist" was better than in the book, IMO.

A couple of years ago, the cable company in my area had a Stephen King "channel" on Demand. I watched a bunch of lesser-known movies based on King's books... BIG MISTAKE. shake bawl

"The Tommyknockers" and "The Langoliers" almost made me get in my car and go looking for his ass. confused

There have been rumors about "The Dark Tower" series being made into movies. Whatever. They'll probably destroy an awesome series. rolleyes

"Under the Dome" needs to go away. pout
