Rate the last movie you watched

Under The Skin (2013) - An alien seductress preys upon hitchhikers in Scotland.

Very cool film. I can see its slow pace not appealing to many people though. I immediately thought of Stanley Kubrick while watching it not knowing beforehand that his name is often brought up in reviews of the movie. The score is great too. star star star star 1/2 (out of five)

wicked funny, but not for the faint of heart. plays with the definition of 'good' and 'bad' and takes a darkly humorous look at the contradictions inherent in human existence. excellent performances from the cast, well worth a watch imo.

To finally see what all the hype was about. Some funny lines. More conventional than I thought it would be. 2.5 out of 4.

I haven’t been to the movies in a long time so I’m very far behind.

A man in a suit with a big smile on his face. Behind him a chaotic office scene.

The Wolf of Wall Street 3.5/5 What. The. Heck. Was. This??? My side is still hurting from the Cerebral Palsy phase or stage. For me it was about sex, drugs and money but it was still entertaining because it was so over the top.

12 Years a Slave film poster.jpg

12 Years a Slave 4.5/5 This was NOT what I was expecting. This was made to sound like some violence porn or something. Yeah, it had brutality but most movies about slavery are brutal. He in fact pulled punches, gave the actual acts some distance and to me seemed more artfully done. I didn’t walk away feeling emotionally drained like I thought I would. In fact I felt reflective. I understand the awards for this. I’d call this art. The only distraction, was Brad Pitt’s amish look, I kind of cracked up like a little kid at that, I was just being silly, he was good.

Electra (1962)

Taken from Euripedes' play in the so-called Orestia series. Bleak, authentic, and a tad overwrought. Agamemmnon's family makes the Lannisters look like the Keatons.

The Hunger Games -- Catching Fire (2013)

A disappointment; good actors wasted in plodding roles.

The Skin I Live In (2011)

My least favorite of the Almovodar movies I've seen so far.

Interesting, and very entertaining. Straight after watching I would have given this movie 3 stars, but having time to think it over...I loved it. smile

Seemed to me that this was quite a cheaply made movie - and it showed. also, after watching 12 years a slave this movie really doesn't hold up. Nothing much happens...really

One of the greatest movies I have ever seen...just wow.

Just saw this for the second time. I love this movie. All of the performances are excellent (even Julia Roberts - and I'm generally not a fan).

Noah - This is a really dark interpretation of the story, seriously I wanted them to leave Noah behind, did not like it at all.

Pitch Perfect - Quite enjoyed this movie, the music was good, and I found it quite funny, worth a watch!!

I tried to watch "X Men 2" but it was just too boring, and I quit after about 30 minutes of it. So I must leave it unrated.

Wow, what a great movie! Now, THIS is what the '70's were like. Drag racing, fast cars, pretty girls, drag racing, fast cars and drag racing!

If you do not cry at the end of the last race, you have no tear ducts. So cool!

I give this movie FIVE Hot Wheels cars out of a possible five Hot Wheels cars.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Not Wes Anderson's best effort. There is a major flaw in the movie in that there's a character that's played by two different actors at two different ages but one is brown and one is white!

The movie is just trying to be a little too clever as well.

I did laugh a few times.

A solid 3 stars out of 5.

Watched 'Captain Phillips' last weekend. I'd give it star star star star . Tom Hanks was f*in genius, especially in that last scene. Really hit a spot with me.

I don't know how he did not get nominated for an Oscar for that final scene.

Let The Fire Burn - ***

Documentary about the stuggles of the MOVE organization in Philly. I was amazed I remembered so little of this as it happenned not far from where I grew up. It's utterly atrocious. I wish the filmmakers had been able to go further in depth, but I guess part of the film's power is in the very staightforward way it is told - via deposition.

Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) - A depressed musician reunites with his lover, though their romance - which has already endured several centuries - is disrupted by the arrival of her uncontrollable younger sister.
