Hulu Plus

Who has it? I see people around here claim Netflix but I haven't seen anyone mention they have Hulu. If you have it, do you like it? Is it even worth having both Netflix and Hulu, as in doesn't it get redundant?

My curiousity stems from wanting to see "Blue". I know there are possibly other means of viewing it, but the path of least resistance is always worth a look.

I have Hulu Plus. It's only worth having if you want to watch a lot of ABC, NBC, Fox and CW shows. Aside from past seasons of The Amazing Race and Survivor there are no CBS shows. The big three will usually have the whole current season of a show until late summer when they get sold to Netflix or Amazon Prime, while CW usually only the last few episodes. The quality is really good and there's less commercials than Cable/Satellite on demand. Past seasons of shows with a couple exceptions are only on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime is doing really good at getting exclusive rights to keep certain series off Netflix, but $75 dollars in one payment is a bit too much for me. There is always a free 1 month trial for new users, it's no hassle to cancel before your month is up and you get billed.

Hmmm,I'm not tempted. Most mainstream networks have their own apps for free. I guess I'll be missing Blue.

The cable company in my city (Charter) just went all digital, which means I now need a "box" for every TV I want to watch. I got a second one for my bedroom TV free for a year. My goal is to be off cable (for television, I'll keep it for internet) by the time I have to start paying for that extra converter. Just trying to figure out what I might be missing if I do that.

Not a lot...

its consolidated method of access is its asset. Otherwise...most of its content is available via other methods...its just not all in one easy to navigate menu with a DVR.

In my area going off cable switching to the converter boxes isn't a good idea, because there is tons of interference, especially coming from TJ and rooftop antennae were removed a longtime ago, so the reception is crap. Those stations that have towers in TJ are the only ones that are strong enough.

Hulu does have some original programming too tho.

Pramface(semi rich girl has semi poor guys one night stand baby, British)...the awesomes(Seth Meyers collection of second rate superheros)...deadbeat(looser guy comedic version of ghost whisperer)...the whites(bougie British restaurant employees antics)..etc, as there's a lot of these...like 'the yard' a kids playground version of a mob movie...

But nothing like netflix's orange/black, house/cards...dare I say lillyhammer...

Man that guy from Deadbeat is not easy on the eyes though. Amazon Prime has some good original upcoming programming like The After, Mozart in the Jungle and Transparent which I loved the pilots of. Not to mention many past seasons of shows they are able to get exclusive rights to and keep of of Netflix. Hulu Plus is mainly for cordcutters because soon everyone else will trade in their dual tuner dvrs for 4 tuner dvrs which can record everything most people want to watch. With Aereo expanding nationwide many people will get highdef network channels for their area and a 2 tuner cloud dvr via their internet connection and that will be enough for a lot of people.

Watching TV has really gotten complicated.

I found the Blue series on YouTube so I'm good for now.

We have it and it's good... We found a show from the UK called Misfits which we find excellent! They seem to be big on importing a lot of UK programming which is kinda cool.

I love the Misfits! Especially the first 2 seasons, when Nathan was on it. Good shit.

That was another curiosity I had. When others talk about TV shows I hadn't heard anyone mention hulus originals I thought that was kind of odd.

I've just got Hulu, in addition to Netflix (which I've only had for a month) and I'm really impressed with both of them and will keep them. Compared to what we pay for TV in New Zealand, the 8 bucks each is incredible value.
