My crew wants to film here for a short film. Why? because it looks creepy... and well this place is creepy as fuck. And they want us to live there for a week and film...

First off it's filled with druggies and prostitutes, and it's right by skid row. Plus, there was sadly a murder here in February. A girl was killed and put in the water tanks! no one found her for 2 weeks.

I also read up that this hotel was a haven for serial killers and suicides. Night Stalker” Richard Ramirez, who died of cancer June 7 while on death row for 13 slayings in the 1980s, lived on the hotel’s 14th floor for several months in 1985.

another resident, paroled Viennese “journalist” Jack Unterweger, strangled at least three prostitutes (and some undetermined number of earlier victims).

Basically, this place seems like bad news. On a ''real world'' not though... I'm a guy that likes going out at night. In this area it's not safe to go out, even after 7 PM

I also heard the water here tastes weird , the bathrooms are filthy (Pimps and prostitutes people) and the rooms smell funny and have flickering lights.

Oh and there is a video of the girl Elisa Lam acting weird and moving her hands around a lot as if she is talking to someone. Of course lots of people think ''they see evil forces'' on the elevator walls.

I've never actually been to the Cecil myself, but the Elisa Lam case intrigued me greatly when it happened and I read a LOT about the hotel.

You might already know this, but just in case you don't - if you stay there, be sure to be very clear to them that you want a room with an attached bathroom, as most of the rooms don't have private bathrooms (some do, but few). Otherwise you have to use a communal bathroom to shower, etc. Gross.

Still, it'd be an experience (good? interesting? horrible? I don't know ) to stay there just to say you did. I guess. Stay safe if you end up staying there!

1.How could serial killer Ramirez afford staying there for months? I understand it´s some cheap little hotel but still....for months? That must´ve cost him quite a bit of money, right? Or do they have long term deals?
2.Is this the same hotel that had dark, almost black water coming out of the tap and showers due to a rotting corpse in the water tanks? You mentioned a dead body in the water tanks, hence my question. So, the dead person was Elisa Lam?

as an angeleno, i say you would do well to go somewhere else other than downtown l.a. i know there has been a certain "cache" over the last ten years by so-called hipsters given to it, and there are quite a bit of clubs, lofts and restaurants now since l.a. live and the staples center opened around 2000, 2001. however, i was working there at that time, and come 4:30 when i went home and people were getting off work, it went from okay to soooo not okay by 6, swear to god. the last time i was there for breakfast and i didn't like the way i felt. clearly my friends and i had the disposable income to eat at bottega louie with their $2, 1-inch macarons, but it was really uncomfortable to me with the still sizable homeless population roaming about. my two cents.
