The fact that the so-called "black leaders" of today and the "black organizations" are so quiet about this and about violence and corruption in black communities in general speaks volumes. Then again, I don't really expect them to say anything. But if they only say it when a non-black does it, I'm gonna call them out for the hypocrites they are.

Every black community leader in New York came out loudly against this bullshit. They were included in the news segment I mentioned about the proposed punishment. Had I read your post earlier, I would've responded sooner.

Yes they did, immediately. Let me say this, I get tired of some Black folks going on the "so-called Back leadership" tangent. Where are you? A lot African Americans want it both was. They aren't involved in anything, and they don't volunteer their time for anything. By and large they are oblivious to what's happening in our community but when the shit hits the fan, they are instant critics. neutral

The thing is....

From Atlanta, Boston, Chicago Detroit, LA, Philly, Oakland, DC, and all points in between, citizens of our country give a lot of their time and money to help folks in our country. The leadership. wink A lot of those folks give their time and money to help segments of African-American community and still its not enough, we have to ask why? The first thing I heard when Rahm Emanuel was elected as Mayor of Chicago, "What is he going to do about all this gun violence and killing. What can he do? When you have segments of our community... black men and women who ARE NOT REARING THEIR CHILDREN.

Triflen Black men and women who produce children and then walk out on them and/ or expose them and teach them the wrong things from jump. "Black leadership" can stand up for days on end and denounce this shit to the cows come home. Again, until we are willing to discuss things in a truthful manner this mess shall continue.

I'm not sure if we shouldn't consider in some circumstance charging parents with neglect when juveniles commit crimes.

Black leaders don't represent me. At times, we share the same opinion but that's as far as it goes. I'm with you that parents need to take responsibility for their children's lack of sanity. If they (parents) aren't teaching them right they should at least be steering them away from wrong.

I'm not sure people are born evil, I don't think a baby is born evil. Obviously conditioning and environment can play a part and also I don't know the effects genes can have on someones brain chemistry or psychological make up.

My point was and is.... those who take the time to offer solutions and who do... don't sit around complaining. Again, I say to those who take that point of view, what are you doing? Leadership isn't just those who get TV face time. Black leadership may very well not represent you. It still never cease to amaze me when some black folks find themselves in a tight, they then run to same " leadership" for help, go figure. confused

The denouncing game isn't working, throwing folks in jail isn't working either. What has changed in our society that make some children this ruthless, lack common decency, and empathy?

That is a very hard question. I truly do believe some people are just evil... others are influenced by others... but it's hard to pinpoint.

As you mentioned going to ''scared straight programs'' don't do much. I mean... they yell at kids for a day. Some kids deal with that all the time at home it maybe no different there. Kids are becoming less scared of juvy, breaking the law, or even prison. it's sad really...

And, talking about it on T.V. Isn't going to do much either confused

Environment doesn't have to always be a factor, people can be born with neurological disorders or conditions or a predisposition to mental illness.

But let's just label these people "evil" and call it a day. I mean, it's not like science can explain why some people behave really badly even if their environment was nurturing and happy and healthy.

Sure I agree there could very easily be deeper issues.

I guessing people use those labels because there are no concrete scientific answers as to why people behave like this, nor is there a current scientific solution. In the meantime, young thugs are injuring people. Armchair debates are fine but they don't do anything. You do what you can with what you have to stop it so people can walk down the street in peace. That's just my view.

Psychopathy is hereditary. However, the way the genetic imprint of this trait develops, depends on the interaction of the genetic trait and environmental factors.

Thanks for that link. I have been wondering if these are just isolated attacks being portrayed as a phenonemon. I admit to jumping the gun myself. Its nothing new really. Adults have always been terrified of teenagers in general. The reality is crimes commited by youth have plummeted to a 30

year low.

I don't think anyone is saying the game doesn't exist, but the actions of random groups of kids should not be used as another excuse to demonize black youth as a whole. Some of the clips are reported to be a few years old. One clip is supposed to be from the UK. There was video of white youth beating up homeless people and no one said there was a problem with the white community. We all need to calm down a bit and really research this story.

This is one of the clips that has been shown quite alot. The assailant was a 35 year old Nigerian man who attacked a 16 year old girl. The attack took place in London in 2012. The attacker was arrested in early 2013. This is some bs.

Lack of parenting has definitely contributed to what's going on with these knuckleheads. And saddest thing they don't know HOW to parent.

They need to have some help and be educated how to parent. The education needs to start before they become parents. I advocate classes in schools for children to discuss what it means to be human. How to deal with things like thoughts, emotions, envy, violence, the importance of compassion etc.
