To me.
A hint of arrogance with a massive talent is sexy.
However it seems that arrogance is far easier to acquire than talent so you have quite a few with massive arrogance and a hint of talent, not so interesting, about as much fun as a bag of hot gas.

I think arrogance is dismissive of other people...confidence doesnt dismiss.
Damn. 750,000 people died fighting the civil war...4 years. With Today's population %age, it would b 7 million people. There r 3000 railroad ties per a mile of track. It would take 250 miles of track to represent 750k...to put it in a bit of perspec

the same reason that they try to blur the 'class' lines.

the 'want' to not subjectify the ones who DON'T HAVE IT...

HOWEVER. it is a most ugly trait when it is the sole product of ignorance.

(e.g. "i have the ability to never have to lift a finger to do anything,

you have to wipe my ass for me, therefore you are nothing".)

the statement is that of an ignorant and arrogant person who

doesn't realize their 'lack of human worth'. one should not be

so arrogant while bein a mental vegatable. lol

You would know if you would consider the meaning of arrogance. (was that arrogant?)

American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition

  1. n. The state or quality of being arrogant; overbearing pride.

Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia

  1. n. The condition or quality of being arrogant; a manifest feeling of personal superiority in rank, power, dignity, or estimation; the exalting of one's own worth or importance to an undue degree; pride with contempt of others; presumption.
  2. n. Synonyms Pride, Arrogance, Presumption, Assumption, Haughtiness, Disdain, Loftiness, Superciliousness, Insolence, lordliness, self-importance, imperiousness, swagger. (See pride.) Pride and disdain are the only words in the list that may have a good meaning when applied to persons: as, pride in one's country; disdain of a base suggestion. Pride primarily respects the temper of the mind, not being necessarily manifested or directed toward others; it is the general term for an unreasonable estimate of one's own superiority in any respect. As it comes into relation and action, it may receive other titles. Thus, arrogance is, at its simplest, pride with contempt of others, and is essentially the same as disdain. In action, arrogance is the assertion of exorbitant claims to rank, dignity, estimation, homage, power, etc. Presumption is often used for arrogance, but more properly expresses a self-conceited and self-important forwardness to run risks, take liberties, and crowd in where one does not deserve to be. Presumption helps itself to what it wants, while arrogance claims from others, and feeds its pride by seeing them yield. Presumption is less selfish than arrogance, but more conceited and headstrong. Assumption has added to its other meanings a bad sense, kindred to presumption; it means a disposition to do what does not belong to one to do, and sometimes to claim to be more than one is. Haughtiness, like disdain and loftiness, dwells upon the inferiority of others quite as much as upon its own elevation; it is equally applicable to spirit and to manner. Disdain is a mingling of lofty contempt with aversion, abhorrence, or indignation. Superciliousness, as befits its derivation, is chiefly applied to manner; it is a manifested haughtiness. Insolence is exhibited not only in manner, but in conduct and language; it is pride or haughtiness, shown in contemptuous or overbearing treatment of others, especially by words; from an equal or an inferior it is an outrageous kind of impertinence. See impudence, egotism, and scorn.

Wiktionary

GNU Webster's 1913

I find that most people that come off as arrogant are actually extremely insecure, trying to overcompensate for that fact.

Arrogance is not a positive trait, because arrogant people tend to be selfish and dismissive of others.

However, I do believe that many other (actually positive or impressive) traits are quickly mistaken for arrogance, mainly because people are jealous and afraid of someone who simply might be better in many aspects than them. shrug

I was called arrogant by a couple of orgers on the Chemtrail/Illuminati threads, but I took that as a compliment.

Mainly because I know I'm not arrogant.
