Sometimes, I may feel an urge to for whatever reasons, but I automatically hold them back.

Crying makes me feel helpless, powerless and stupid...it's never the "cleansing relief" people seem to describe. I can't relate to wanting to watch a tear-jerker movie to have "a good cry". Those sorts of movies feel manipulative to me, at best. confused

That said, it was about six months ago when I lost my job. See? Helpless, powerless and stupid.

I cry because of that feeling, I don't get it from crying. hmmm
Or from simply being moved (that happens to me more often than anything else)
I'm sure last time I cried was something inspirational on YouTube - like that autistic girl who typed.

Crying just compounds those feelings to me. I feel like crying will not change things and the act of it only makes me feel worse. I am a great counselor/comforter of those who do cry; i want them to feel safe. That's not an experience i'm able to take advantage of, myself. Crying alone is just...ack. :-(

When I'm touched in some way (music, scenery, art, love of my boy) I do well up but I resist the actual crying. Makes me feel too vulnerable. I haven't been nicknamed "Spock" since I was a girl for nothing. razz

A week or two ago...watching some stupid movie...tears flowed.

It may've been The Notebook (I finally saw that stupid movie). Which reminds me that the PREVIOUS movie which made me cry was also a Ryan Gosling flick..."Blue Valentine".

AND I still haven't gathered the nerve to watch "Crazy, Stupid Love" b/c I know it's gonna make me cry.

fart

Ryan Gosling needs to die.

I just read stupid The Notebook book a month or so ago. It was so touching, I could barely breathe sometimes. No tears, though. Couldn't imagine how it would be to have someone care for me THAT MUCH! eek

Crying makes me feel really lonely and I honestly don't need that feeling enhanced. confused

I have no desire to see the movie, crikey. And I'll be the first (i think) to say that I cannot see the appeal of Ryan Gosling in any way. His eyes are too close together, he has kind of a "dumb" look about him. How he is a "heartthrob" I cannot fathom.

I cry so easily especially during kids movies. I cry at the end of Wall-e when eve tries to fix him and it's not working.

I cry nearly every day for kids with cancer! which is why I am replying to your post. I'm sorry about your nephew, I hope he will be ok.

Lol,,,u guys reminded me about one of the last times I was at the movies ,,,,there was a scene with a father and son,,,,it was emotional, but I held it together, however, some guy sitting two seats away started the sniffling, then grew into full out sobbing. I felt bad for the guy, since he was overwhelmed, but it was a bit ackward.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

But he says its not going any where and he needs to move on. We had a big blow out, I cried and cried and cried..he's the ONLY man that has ever been able to make me cry..

Been on the verge of tears since then, but I might be all cried out now.

Side note: I really never cry, idk what kinda spell he put on me smh

Aww! touched Please feel free. grouphug

I'm a big ol' softie too but I cry mostly about things that actually make me happy. I tend to get melancholy or angry about things that make me sad but I don't often cry about them. shrug

The last time I cried was a few weeks ago when my grandson was all excited about showing me that he could ride his little power bike that he got for Christmas. touched

"Jack, I swear..." gets me every time, too! That was a very touching movie. It was just on TV a few days ago, and I watched it again. Heath Ledger was robbed of the Oscar IMO. He was absolutely brilliant in that film.

I remember listening to the Tom Joyner Morning Show when the movie premiered. Tom was saying he didn't know what to make of the movie. Was it about friendship or what? Anthony said, "Man, it's a love story." But the way he said it deridingly spoke volumes. I labeled him homophobic. sad

Anyway, getting back to the subject at hand. I'm very emotional. I will cry at the drop of a hat if something is touching or poignant. However, strangely, I don't cry when faced with some personal catastrophy like losing my job/getting fired. The last time that happened, I know folk were waiting for me to fall apart, but I was cool as a cucumber, handed in their shit and left dryeyed and head held high with an aura of "FUCK YOU, THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON AND THIS JOB! I'm fucking outta here!"

The very last time I cried was last Sunday. I was visiting a frient and we were talking about my mom's death and I just lost it. bawl It was the first time I had ever talked about it to anyone in detail.

Thank you Shorty touched ...he has a mutant cancer. It brings the survival rate average from 1 year (normal survival rate for glioblastoma multiforme but the mutant is almost it's own category) to an average of 10 to 20 years, which is such a short length of time sad but he swears he'll beat that. His attitude is so inspiring.
