New Gonorrhea STD Worse Than AIDS

eek eek eek eek eek

A new "sex superbug" is making top news headlines this week, as The Daily Beast reported this Monday, May 6, that a dangerous strain of gonorrhea that has been resistant to most drugs so far has been identified this 2013 in Hawaii. According to some doctors’ early findings, the so-called sex superbug has been called “a lot worse than AIDS … in the short run as the bacteria is aggressive and will affect more people more quickly.”

The “sex superbug” story starts like this: first found back in 2011 in Japan, the new drug-resistant STD strain has been dubbed HO41. The American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are now asking for over $50 million from Congress in order to find our more research on a potential antibiotic in the hopes of fighting the disease.

Now, the sex superbug is spreading. Reports of the gonorrhea strain have been reported both in the U.S. and beyond, including California, Hawaii, and now Norway. Physicians in Hawaii especially have been notified to be aware of this dangerous strain that poses a threat to thousands and counting, as its highly aggressive nature was called by the Daily Mail as having the possibility of being as “deadly as the AIDS virus.”

My boyfriend works with a guy who does the tile work for the maintenance crew they work in...

he has super gonorrhea and now must wear adult diapers because he gets leakage so bad it keeps his pants wet. His boss told him to wear depends because the wet stains in his jeans were so distracting. Yuck and horrible.

Poor guy... feeling ill

eek Other than the "leakage" no other ill affects? I'm surprise he working or is able to work, I'd be somewhere having a nervous breakdown. (SMH)

To me, this is a sign that the AIDS virus is about to be cured.

The CDC knew about drug resistent strains of this for several years, and the drug companies knew it too. Moreover, both are aware of the new methodologies out there that appear the be very quickly immenent with regards to a cure for AIDS. They need another super-bug, and looks like they've found it.

I'm not saying that they had something to do with its creation. What I am saying is that there's going to be a great deal of deliberate word phrasing by the CDC and drug companies in the years to come. There should have been warnings years ago.

Well with doctors and medical clinic's sticking everybody in the ass for the past 50 years with anti-biotic for every aliment known to man/women kind... it was predicated a long time ago we would reach this point. STD's are the least of our worries, pandemics are likely to follow.

We need to start having serious debate on the necessity of animals to shot-up with anti-biotic too, this hasn't helped.

Like a good friend just said on FB: "why do news centers get information from tabloids?"

I knew it sounded crazy to believe but I wasn't sure...

Any disease that can be managed and controlled by Big Pharm to create profit will never be cured. That's the capitalist way.

hmmm

The false reports have put public health experts in the unusual position of refuting an error while also emphasizing that the threat of untreatable gonorrhea in the U.S. is very real.

“We think that that could be just a matter of a year or two,” said William Smith, executive director of the National Coalition of STD Directors.

Nearly 322,000 cases of gonorrhea were reported in the U.S. in 2011, making it again the second most commonly reported notifiable infection in the nation. Sufferers often show no signs, so the actual number of infections is likely closer to 700,000, according to the CDC.

Still crazy-ass scary though.
