Dewrede

I just found about Chris' untimely passing and I couldn't ignore it. I was unable to post on the other thread.

I don't really frequent this site much, and even less so recently, but I would ALWAYS have an orgnote from Chris when I logged in after being MIA for a few months, usually just asking how I was and how my family were. We chatted a few times, and he came across as a brilliant guy

I sent Chris a load of CDr boots years and years ago, and he returned the favour many times over posting from Holland to Scotland. I was watching a load of concerts DVDs the other day he sent me, and it came to mind to check in and see how he was.

There's a lot of people on here that seem to have been very close to him, and although I wasn't particularly, he certainly made an impression on me and I'm upset at his passing

RIP Dewrede sad

Fonkyman

I miss him more than I ever knew I would.

I cried like a fuckin baby when he went. I was eating my dinner a day or so after he'd gone. It hit me and I almost choked myself. I'd been ok til then. Just came on top for a minute and I couldn't hold it, it was all a bit of a shock. Strange as I'd never met him in person but we'd spent hours wafflin over the years. When I couldn't sleep I only had to put MSN on and he'd be on it with a "Hoi, what u doin?". We traded insults, gigs and bollocks for years and had a scream.

We were chattin just days before he died. He'd been feelin rough. We talked a lot of bollocks and I told him to see a Doc. Three days later he was gone, it was fucking tragic.

He had a good heart, talked a lotta shit and a lotta sense and had a blinding sense of humour. We used to laugh our guts out. He was a massive P fan, proper ol skool. Loved Jimi too. He loved all kinds of music, played a bit of guitar and keys and was a genuine nutcase. He loved nothing more than a bacon sarnie, some burgers and a big juicy steak, rare. He had a secret bloodlust that he'd hide by pretending to be a strict vegetarian. (He'd be pressing all the nuclear buttons about now). We used to row every time I was off for a bit o bacon. "Eating corpse" he'd call it and chuck me a disbelief As much as he'd try to convince me, I never joined his cult of the vegetarians.

He was a good lad. Bit of a lazy fucker that didn't much care for the "mimed Forever In My Life, from SOTT" but a good lad with a good heart. Those kinda cars don't pass you every day.

He used to tell me about you, Fonkyman, long before you started posting regularly in GD. He thought you were awesome.

...And the punchline is... he was a shit judge of character.

Ya tryin to start me off or summin? touched lol

Just kiddin, that's given me a smile, cheers. The mind boggles as to what was said about me though confused. I hardly posted here before Phonky died, or Dewrede as he was here. A couple of places closed around the same time as Chris went. I started posting more on here after he'd gone. I should apologise really for the shitty attitude I had. I never take losing anyone easily and tend to get the right arse about it. No excuse really, I'm just a bit of a wanker now and then. Who aint?

I still think I'll give him a shout about something, then realise I can't. I still owe him a beating on the pool table, as well as a lesson in swerving the cueball. He still owes me "Shitloads of the finest Dutch vegetables" and a backgammon tour of the coffee shops.

I miss having a go at him, as mad as that sounds, it's just how we were. I'd wind him up about everything. We sat picking the bones out of I Wish U Heaven one night a few days before he died. Arguing over the lyrics even though we'd both heard em a million times. We were like a couple of kids, "She piss in the back yard", "No, she eats pizza in the back yard"..."No it aint" and "yes it is" for ages. He loved a good barney and he stood his ground pretty well. Was pretty straight talking too and I like that in anyone whether I agree with em or not. We disagreed on plenty too. He was alright, ol Phonky.

I've been reading some of the stuff we talked about. Pissing myself laughing too. He was on about being a distributor for vegan and veggie pizzas. He'd heard of em being in the States and was gonna start em up in Holland. "It'll be a smash success and I'll be loaded" he said. I told him to start smaller and get a job in his local coffee shop.

I'll shut up there or I'll post pages of drivel (As usual). At least I've stopped editing posts in the old Dewrede thread. He'd have laughed at all that, probably.

I miss the ol boy. Rest easy Phonks.

(Chin up Bells if you're reading.)
