RuPaul's Drag Race: ALL STARS (Spoilers)

Started last night. queen

With Nina, Yara and Alexis I gotta be TeamPR but I love so many of them. faint

I think last night's elimination got it right. And while I enjoy Pandora I actually thought she was being a real (pardon the pun) drag. Mimi at least was trying to make things work while all she did was mope. rolleyes

No, didn't have it set to record. So gonna catch up on it tonight.

I don't think Mimi deserved to stay (based on show alone, not untucked), just glad Pandora went with.

I liked Pandora but I thought she should have been the one to do the LS4YL. Not because I think she could have beat Chad nor Shannell but at least she would have shown that she actually wanted to be there and really tried. For all her shit talking when the pairings were made, she didn't put up enough fight for me to feel bad that she's gone too.

I love the pairings idea.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

LOVED the first episode! I love the entrances. I love the pairing idea. I love the hybrid names. I loved Rujubee's half baked photo. I loved that Mimi's behind went home.

I didn't think she deserved to be there based on her previous performance. I was hoping to see something a little different with her Drag. I didn't expect anything drastic, but she's lost weight, she fixed her teeth, she looked good in the promos and came in with a new attitude. But she was the same old thing. And all that desperate attention stealing during the lip sync was a mess.

I felt bad for Pandora when she was paired with Mimi as I knew it was going to bring her down. However, she quit before she even got started. She let her pairing take ALL of the wind out of her sails and just pouted through the whole damn challenge. She didn't even TRY. It was pathetic and maddening and then she had the nerve to blame it all on Mimi. At least Mimi gave a damn. Glad she won't be continuing on. Big disappointment.

Why is Tammie Brown so ghatdayum crazy?! Like...forreal whofarted I first I thought she was just a little different, but........she just ain't right.

OK watched Untucked and opinions on episode 1 remain.

Now I'm on TeamPR so Alexis is one of the girls I love but the whole nonsense of Mimi causin her to be fired...let's be for realzzz...

Mimi has done some considerable stuff with Xelle and stuff for herself considering the way she was looked at from her season of Drag Race. I love me some Alexis, but let's face it, the club owner was probably lookin at what was workin for him/her and that's not shade. If she turned that job down folk would be sayin shit like "you don't want it bad enough" or "got no drive" and for all queens but RAVEN drool to be standin up there sayin some shit...ha come on. Raven will stab a bitch and throw her in a ditch if she can be the headliner tomorrow night. lol

Raven mentioned she couldn't get over that Mimi was #3 on votes and on the other side of her face said it didn't lool like Mimi had many fans (when Mimi said don't be fuckin with her fans). So which is it?

It's a game, that's which it is. And I LOVE it. boxed

while i was really sad about pandora going, she did just kind of quickly give up. of course, she also she was chained to the burning barn that was certain to collapse quickly, and was all but certain to go quickly if not first.

i was really glad mimi went. i loathe mimi and always have.

being as it seems from the trailer that next weeks show is the sitcom challenge (in form of "laugh in"), alexis and yara are almost sure to be next.

Well, Raven's a shit stirrer, but I don't see her as being duplicitous.

But if there is a drag code about not taking someone else's home bar, you should abide by it. That's the whole point of the code! I dig Mimi and was really gunning for her and also Tammie (who I am also a fan of). But Mimi's behavior is always bigger than Mimi's talent. Can't hate on her for the ability to mobilize so many fans (re: the voting), though. If the other girls turned out the votes, they would've drowned Mimi out.

Pandora was dumb as hell in the episode. Definitely showing the shady side of her personality, which was also brought to bear during the Wedding challenge in her season. She's not my choice for Miss Congeniality as she is positively bitchy and petulanet and spoiled when she wants to be. It was completely out of the character she attempts to put forth for her to watch Mimi flail in a lip synch she could never have won against Chad.

Personally, though I love Chad and Shannel, I feel like they don't grow enough. Their routine is so polished and so overthought and overdone that it's ridiculous. The whole face-pulling motion, the huge peacock helmet, the spears poking out of Shannel's headdress. Exhausting. The dialogue about the half-baked pic? TIRED.

I wish they had gone home based on the challenge itself. But Mimi's presence is too acrimonious to keep around. And frankly, Pandora didn't do her part to earn their place in the next competition so away they go.

mostly agree, but i see team SHAD owning this competition. i am betting they go to final 4 or final 2.

Just got a chance to watch this afternoon...

I, too, was okay with the first elimination. nod

I LOVE Latrice, so I'm all for Team Latrila! woot!

I like Shanell and Chad, but they were just too much! Two overdone queens together is going to get old quick.

I can't stop thinking about Tammie just shouting out shit backstage like when she just wailed and then stopped and said "That was acting." or when Mimi got upset and she just went on "Oh go change your dress. Spin it round, spin it round" (or something like that).
She looked like an in-patient at the old-timers dementia wing. falloff

For the sake of my girl Nina I'm :praying: she's a strong dark horse in this competition. lol

Well, I'm not surprised Brown Flowers went next. It's really no surprise that the judges don't appreciate or like Tammie Brown. And boy did Nina lay down on the tracks, amirite? What was she even thinking doing that celebrity?

And I gotta be honest... I say this as a Yarlexis fan, but I do not agree with them winning. Just like last time she was asked to impersonate someone, Alexis is just not great at conveying other people's mannerisms or personalities. I did not get Shakira from that performance AT ALL! And really, have they ever given fainter praise to a winner than this challenge? "Well, she plays a good straight guy I guess." Yikes.

I gotta say it (like I said it during Season 4) - Latrice Mothafuckin' Royale is a great personality, but she is as predictable as hell. While she shares the 20 years of experience with the likes of Raja and Chad, she lacks polish all the fuck over and her choices are samey. I think if she were with anyone but Manila, she would've been sent home by now. I don't like the Latrila team and feel they should've gone home tonight.

Speaking of - It's very clear what winners we have left!

Week 1 - Mandora sashays

Week 2 - Brown Flowers sashays

Week 3 - Yarlexis sashays

Week 4 - Latrila sashays

The next 2 are just my educated guesses...

Week 5 - Shad sashays

Week 6 - Raven wins

LOL! I think they meant straightman of a comedic duo as in Dean Martin to Jerry Lewis or Bud Abbott to Lou Costello. That's not actually a bad compliment to have. lol

I watched Untucked and Miss Tammie Brown was feeling it, wasn't she? When she went in on Michelle Visage's make-up, I rolled. lol I'm sad Nina Flowers had to go. I really liked her.

just watched. was too busy with sandy last night and not in the right mood.

i wish i could say the show upped my mood, but... wow, that was painful to watch.

nina... wtf? why would you pick someone almost no one involved has heard of, then stick with it even when pointed out that no one will know who that is during the consultation? bad bad choice.

i winced when tammie said she was doing tammy faye. yes, she looked like her, but her tammy faye was bad. and tammie really annoyed me during the untucked. defensively lashing out at the judges is not the right answer.

not sad to see them go.

i was pleasently surprised by how much i liked manilla's madonna. she got one of the few laughs this episode had out of me.

but latrice just can not do celebrity. her oprah was as flat and minimal as her aretha was last season.

jujubee was okay as fran drescher. i didnt love it as much as the judges did. the laugh was good, but what person CANT do the fran drescher laugh? the voice and accent was lacking.

raven as bea arthur... not so much. didnt seem like her at all. monotone, flat, and raven can not deliver a punchline.

shannel's lucy was... really flat. there were certainly worse impressions, but... meh. just meh.

chad's bette davis was very funny. and since everyone expected him to do cher and kill it, it really speaks volumes that he avoided the easy win and STILL killed it.

i dont understand how yara and alexis won. yes, yara's charro was good, but honestly, i thought chad's bette and manilla's madonna were better. and alexis as shakira was just a terrible choice and delivery from start to finish. she might as well have been doing madonna or beyonce or rupaul, because it just seemed like alexis in a blond wig.

my money is still on chad and shannel for the final two... i think they are the best two, and deserve it.

PLUS:

wont say exactly why, but i am almost completely sure my suspicion is correct. smart and observant viewers will do the math and see it too.

smile

I totally got what they meant about a straight man, but the delivery of that faint praise was... weak. They knew damn well Alexis was not a star in that challenge, but I almost feel like they were given the win because of sympathy.

I think Tammie was on fire and hilarious as fuck during the runway. Michelle Visage was going in on some Tammie Brown, criticizing her sanity, clothes, look, all of it. Sorry, but Michelle ain't a spring chicken and her big sloppy tits and weaves don't hide that. We get it, Ru pays her a huge paycheck now which is why she sashayed from her DJ job and ousted Merl. But my god she is fucking annoying and overly critical and downright rude.

I also thought Tammie's Untucked comment was priceless: "I can make the whole class laugh. But I can make the whole class cry too if I want." Go IN, bitch.

Oh ok. I get it now. I don't think Yarlexis should have won but they should have been safe. Chad's Bette Davis was the best to me but Shannel's Lucy was unforgivable. You don't touch the All-Time Reigning Queen of Comedy and not be the least bit funny.

I must show some love for LaTrice's LS4YL. She was channeling Ethel Merman all over the place. I don't know what the hell Tammie Brown was doing up there but it wasn't Ethel Merman and it damn sure was no part of Tina Turner like she said it was supposed to be.

I'll stand alone on feeling ok with Yarlexis' win. lol

I think Charo was the stand out if only in terms of nailing it, but being OUT THERE and the challenge was a Laugh-In over-the-top comedy challenge. So while Chad's Bette D. was awesome and Manila's Madge was a success, I think what tipped the scales was the over-the-top-ness of it (not to mention Vicky Lawrence LOVING her Charo, having worked with the real one back in the day).

Alexis was not a "straight man", it is very different to play the straight man and to play subdued because you don't know how to sell the character you're supposed to be playing.

Agree on Shannel's Lucy being flat and Latrice's Oprah being...well, nothing to speak of, really. As much as I love me some Latrice, she doesn't even try to attempt character makeup for the impersonation challenges. She just does her face like normal and picks a wig that "maybe" might resemble that person's hair. doh!

Shame about Nina. I don't know why why why she would pick La Lupe (fierce as she was) when no one knows her. The shame about Tammie is that she could easily look like a number of folk from Tammy Baker to Bette Davis to Marlene Deitrich to Joan Crawford etc with the right makeup, but because she's such a blend of all her influences I don't think she could ever properly portray just one. lol

Raven's Bea was a straight up CRIME. The worst of the eve for me because at least Tammie was entertaining (even if for the wrong reasons). For as good a makeup artist as he is I don't feel he got the look down at all. It was Raven face with a semi-Bea Arthurish wig on, period. And just because Bea had a low register, it doesn't mean she sounded like you, Raven. lol I mean, bitch didn't even try to do anything with her voice or inflections. fart

I guess it says something that I don't even recall anything about Raven's Bea other than vaguely remembering the hair. Shame because Raven's attitude is very Bea Arthur.

I have a soft spot for odd and misunderstood folks who get tired of being treated poorly and remind people that they can be just as cruel right back. It's empowering, in a sense. That's one thing I always liked about Tammie from season 1 - she's unapologetic about her quirks, she rarely feels the need to break character if it isn't necessary, and yes she will read the shit out of you if you don't act right.

I cannot stand Michelle Visage. What Tammie said, about it being trite and whatnot, is entirely true. It is not Michelle's job to try to express her extreme distaste for someone up there. As Ru said, they're there because they are stars not so the judges (none of which are that successful) can shit all over them. I love Santino, but it was uncomfortable to watch him eviscerate Pandora in Season 2. It was also painful to watch Michelle Visage eviscerate Yara, Alexis, and Sharon Needles. The bitch is dumb as hell and her judging is very poor. Lest we forget, Michelle was stumping for Phi Phi at the end of Season 4 and we all know how awful it woulda been had Phi Phi won. Kinda like if GW Bush got a third term.

I just got to watch it on Demand last night... (Sandy... sigh)

  • I totally agree with Spinlight about Michelle. Enough of her already. She adds nothing anymore, except vitriol. I lay on that couch last night thinking how she looks bigger each week. She looked like the parents sitting at elementary desks/chairs on Parent Night this week. And we get it... she doesn't like the color green. rolleyes Ru's gown was FIYAH! and she still felt the need to mention the color. mad
  • I love Latrice, but that Oprah. confused
  • I actually forgot who Raven was supposed to be. I spent a good part of that segment trying to remember why she was wearing the awful wig.
  • Yeah... Alexis was sad. (Don't kill me, John). I loved her in the beginning of her season, but by the time she was eliminated, I was over her. She doesn't step out of her comfort zone. And I HATE her in that Absolut commercial. Every time I see it, I think of a circus pony. I predict that Yarlexis is gone next.
  • Shannel was a chunky-ass Lucy. When she did the "Lucy cry", those chins lost it for me. disbelief
  • I agree with John: Tammie's comment was sad because I see kids like him all the time. I'm sure he was picked on horribly in school, and retreated into character to keep from crying. I just wonder what he is like when he's not in character- just Tommy. sad

I didn't want to repeat too much of what was already said, but I wanted to weigh in.

When the power came back on, the first thing did was turn on my computer and check a few things. Then I realized I had missed RuPaul! omfg lol

First things first....

WEEEEEEEEPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! excited

LOVE LOVE LOVE that my girls got to stay this week. WELL deserved. Fuckwhatuherrrrd.

These bitches are fierce and constantly dismissed over the others there so it was a nice turn of events. Though I thought they did very well I was sad but ready to see them off just because I assumed the others there would be the ones preferred to move on. LOVED Yara speaking out on Chad carrying Shannel (though both Shannel and Alexis worked over their team-mates during tonight's street challenge). And LOVVVVVVVVVED Alexis speaking out on the queens constantly dismissing "pageantry". This IS a pageant, BAM! Different categories but a pageant nontheless. And drag pageants are no joke, so I don't even know why they would dismiss them in the first place.

Sad to see Latrilla go, but it was the right call.

Janice Dickinson, Shantay, you stay.

Michelle Visage, Sashay away. wave

Seriously, I've really enjoyed her and I know she's Ru's squirrelfriend and all but if she keeps on this mess road (and her tits seem to have some irreconcilable differences cuz they runnin as far away from each other as they can) Ru betta enroll her ass in DRAG U!!!

I'm sure there's more to say. Lots more.

I could've seen Manila winning, but let's face it, as much as I ADORE Latrice, she lacks polish and versatility compared to others. When Juju was talking about being in a "box" that applies to Latrice dead on. She's an awesome entertainer, but she's doesn't stretch enough, creatively. Ironically, neither does Juju.

No, you're right...
All her looks are about the same.

I just love her personality so much.

I was straight up jumping out of my seat and cheering for Alexis. Pussy. On. FIRE. Work!!!!

Not a fan of Latrila - so glad to see them go. Lovely person that Latrice is, she ain't an all star for her diversity.

Shannel is always gon' be Shannel. Hilarious! You give homegirl an inch, she takes a mile. Oh yeah honey me and Chad just worked it out an- No, let me stop you right there. You look like a circus attraction and Chad looks like a MILF.

Oh and truthfully, I am here for Rujubee. They are giving me everything I need with each episode so far. I was not at all surprised they got bottom 2, but I was positive not Manila nor Latrice could out lipsynch either Raven or Jujubee. Not. Gonna. Happen.
