Jessica Ridgeway's body found

http://news.yahoo.com/blo...ories.html

Police in Westminster, Colo., today officially confirmed that a body found Wednesday belongs to missing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway.

"We recognize there is a predator at large in our community," said Westminster, Colo., Police Chief Lee Birk.

The girl had been missing since Oct. 5.

"The commitment of the task force of investigators in this case will not waver," said James Yacone, special agent in charge of the FBI's Denver office. "Our commitment and resolve to seek justice on behalf of Jessica will only grow stronger."

Yacone said that in the past week investigators have searched 500 homes, 1,000 vehicles and received 1,500 tips.

ABC News reported Wednesday that law enforcement sources believed the body found in Arvada, Colo., was Jessica's, based on several factors. Positive identification, however, was delayed until now because the body was badly dismembered and "not intact", police said Thursday.

Jessica's body was found about seven miles from her home in Westminster, Colo. Her backpack and water bottle were recovered from a neighborhood subdivision in Superior, Colo., on Sunday.

Ridgeway's mother, Sarah, told police she last saw her daughter in Westminster Friday morning when Jessica left for school. The fifth-grader never showed up at a nearby park where she was supposed to meet friends for the one-mile walk to her elementary school. It was a route she took every day, but this time she never arrived.

The school called to report Jessica absent, but Sarah Ridgeway told police she was asleep during the day because she works overnights and did not get the call until eight hours later, when she called police.

On Thursday, the FBI Behavioral Analysis U... a profile of who they think committed the crime.

The suspect is most likely a man, the FBI said. He might have been a "no show" and missed work immediately after the incident and offered a plausible excuse such as illness, death in the family or car trouble.

The individual might express an intense interest in the status of the investigation and pay close attention to the media. But some offenders might quickly turn off media accounts or try to redirect conversations concerning the victims or their families, according to the FBI.

"It could be your boss, it could be your friend and, ultimately, it could be your family member," FBI spokesman David Joly said.

Not to take the focus off of this poor child, but three years ago, someone in my small town kidnapped a five year old girl and buried her alive in concrete way out in the country on the banks of a river. To this day, no one has been arrested for her murder. There are seriously sick and disturbed people in this world.

It was in Monroe, MI. Her name was Navaeh Buchanan. Most people believe it was the mother's friend, who is now in prison on parole violation. He was a registered sex offender, and just all around scum that lived in a Motel 7.

Nobody knows. The sherrif said back in May, I think, that they were close to making an arrest, but nothing else has happened. He said something very telling though. He said that the community does not need to fear that the person(s) responsible for the kidnapping and murder is still in the community. That made us all think that it must be this guy that went back to prison for the parole violation.

Here's what we know about this guy...He was living in a dirt bag motel right next to a business that makes concrete. Supposedly, the concrete used to bury the girl was from this place. Also, they found a beer can near by. The beer can was traced back to a local store right down the street from that motel!

And the way the girl was found is miraculous and horrible. Like I said, she was buried on the banks of a river miles from town in the country. Some guy's father was in town visiting him, and they decided to go fishing. The guy had driven past this spot several times and always thought it looked like a good place to fish. He had never fished this spot, but decided to take his dad that day. It was kind of hard to get to since it was down an imbankment, but they found an area of newly poured cement. They were standing on it, yet there were flies everywhere. They thought an animal or fish must have died on the banks, so walked around looking for it. After finding nothing, they came back to the cement area. The guy then noticed that it was a bit crumbly and soft. He kicked some of it away, saw human flesh and flipped out, called police right away. It was Navaeh. The guy in prison was from that area and known to love fishing. Why isn't he charged? We have no idea. But if it wasn't for those men fishing that one remote spot that day, she probably never would have been found.

It's been a scandal. The girl was only in her early 20's and had a not-so-great life, of her own choosing. She was known to hang around a drug crowd. If I remember correctly, she did serve some time for robbery or something like that. She was living with her mother in an apartment complex. I heard that she met the suspect while going to probation. She absolutely did know of his past. He wasn't even supposed to be around her and her kid because of his status of a registered sex offender. I doubt her mother knew though.

One day, her daugther was playing with another kid in the building out in the parking lot, while the mom was in her apartment, two flights up. She said that she gave her daughter permission to play with the other kid inside the building. The other kid ends up coming upstairs to tell the mom that Navaeh went outside without permission. Once the mom came out there, her tricycle was there, but the girl was gone. I think it only took two hours to issue an Amber alert. Everyone in the neighborhood was looking for her. There's a school right behind the apartment complex with a playground. Some of the kids would go over there and play. Plus this is a residential neighborhood. Besides this one kind-of- run-down apartment complex, it's surrounded by nice houses in a subdivision. At first, they thought she went off playing somewhere.

I heard that she called the suspect right away and asked him if he had Naveah. He said he had been fishing all day!

Believe me, the mom has been raked over the coals for allowing this man into her life. Her family has since moved from the apartment, and last I heard, she lives with friends. I think her life is even more a wreck now, because she blames herself, of course. I see the grandmother frequently since she works at a grocery store in town. I don't know her personally, so I don't say anything, but my heart just aches for her every time I go through her checkout lane.

So, the general consensus is the guy in prison did it. What's taking so long for an arrest to be announced? Nobody knows. According to newspaper articles on the family, they don't know either.

Again, sorry to take away from Jessica Ridgeway. Many prayers for that now destroyed family.
