I wanted to tell you that Dewrede has passed away. He was 37 years old, and died of a pulmonary embolism. I loved him and it is out of honor to him that I am writing this. He spent a lot of time here and had many good friends, and this is the only way I could think of to let you know.

Christan, I will always love you and keep you in my heart. I wanted to post "How Can I Tell You?" by Cat Stevens, but as usual I cannot figure out how to do it. Anyway, keep his family in your prayers, they loved him very much as well.

sad rose Dewrede was only a year younger than me (I'm age 38).

me too sad

I feel bad because last Nov/Dec when I decided to shut down my org FB account and delete my org acount, he thought that perhaps for some reason we'd had a falling out, and when I told him I wasn't talking to ANYONE for a time he was very glad it wasn't something he did. I know he didn't have so much time for me either because he had met someone very special. Of course now I wish I'd kept in contact much more consistently. sigh coulda woulda shoulda.

Chris was there for me when I had my ups and downs, and we kept each other informed about our various health issues, me not realising how serious his were, but I have to say that every time he brought up something he was worried about I asked him GO SEE A DOCTOR.

Ugh, this just goes to show, if there is someone you are thinking about, that you feel bad for not calling, CONTACT THEM, let them know you care cry I know that I am so guilty of avoiding people for YEARS and it will be a real effort for me to do this rather than retreat even further into myself.

I will miss you Chris. We may not have agreed on much or had much in common, but we still remained firm friends because we had patience and tolerance for each others quirks, like for YEARS. I don't remember how we got talking but we chatted from probably 2006 onwards, and for a time daily.

In 2007 he missed a train and we never got to meet, but in 2010 we managed to get together finally.

I hope he won't mind me posting this, it means a lot to me - a very happy moment. Chris is on the right.

Yes he had met a beautiful Lady and he adored her. She was in Holland last june.

We checked upon eachother every day for the last years abt our health but also just to chit chat (he slept on strange times because he always wanted to skype with his Lady)

I knew his health wasn't good and asked him hundred of times to go see a doctor but he was afraid especially for needles sad

Last friday he told me that he was afraid this was gonna happen and that he was scared cry

Will miss him very much rose

[Edited 9/4/12 3:01am]

Did he have strong family support? Also, I think he would have lived longer, if his attitude toward himself and life was more positive. The mind is a powerful thing. Just saying, but you knew him.

Yes, his family supported him strongly but he was a grown man..

I don't think we should discuss this anyfurther since I know his siblings, parents and g/f are reading this also.

We can't change what happened.

Mods?

I don't post here much. Shame some other people do.

You'd think that in a thread like this people would engage their brains before notching up their post count. Have a bit of consideration. These sorts of comments aren't very helpful to anyone. Unless of course, you're aspiring to become the webs most insensitive moron.

The mind is indeed a powerful thing. Maybe yours needs a new battery or something? Ya never know, if ya concentrate, and think really positively, ya might be able to charge it up a bit?

That's strange,

I just checked the mail I had from his girlfriend again. She said they'd played Adore, The Arms of Orion, something else, and the Cat Stevens tune? No matter, sounded like he had a good send off either way.

sad Very heartbreaking to hear this sad news. My condolences to his family and friends who have lost someone who touched their lives. When we leave this life for the next, I find solace by believing that there is somewhere beautiful after this life where we wait for our loved ones until we meet again. To those who loved him, he was taken to soon; but to The Maker and the Angels, he is right on time. Heaven got another angel. RIP Dewrede, you will be greatly missed but forever loved. pray

cry This literally brought tears to my eyes, it was so beautifully written, and I agree with what you have written.

I can't believe that Dewrede is gone. I liked what he posted, and yes, his Jimi Hendrix avatar was very cool. It makes you realize how precious life is, and how someone we know and/or love can be so suddenly taken from us.

RIP, Dewrede. sad pray

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

This song popped into my head as I'm reading everyone's comments here. The lyrics to this song seem to pretty much capture what we are all thinking and feeling right now. This song was sung by Linda Ronstadt, but was written by Karla Bonoff.

Good-Bye My Friend

Oh, we never know where life will take us
We know it's just a ride on the wheel
And we never know when death will shake us
And we wonder how it will feel, so

Good-bye, my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the time together through all the years
Will take away the tears
It's ok now
Good-bye, my friend

I've seen alot of things that made me crazy
And I guess I held on to you
I could have run away and left, well maybe,
But it wasn't time and we both knew, so

Good-bye, my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the love you gave me through all the years
Will take away my tears
I'm ok now
Good-bye, my friend

Life's so fragile and love's so pure
We can't hold on but we try
We watch how quickly it disappears
And we'll never know why
But I'm ok now
Good-bye, my friend
You can go now
Good-bye, my friend

sad sad

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

So Sad,

I remember his argumentative stance which you had to apreciate. Not afraid to be different.

It's strange when a name on a website can be so distant yet so close.

Goes to show how special this place is.

Miss ya Dewrede.

Allthough I never met him in real life, I do miss him.

I really liked reading his comments. And I laughed so often, when he tickled some nerves here and there, and got people aroused by his comments.

I've been thinking about him a lot this week, and I will miss him overhere.

His sudden death had it's impact, it really does feel like losing a friend. Eventhough I've never seen him, it's just that I knew he would always be here.

I have several fond memories of him. I remember when my divorce struggles were at an all time high. There was a divorce songs thread, and so many people posted great songs. Dewrede also posted a beautiful song, and I was touched by his choice. Before that I never was sure if he hated/liked/didn't care about me, albeit he allways was respectful to me, even if he was critical.

That he took the effort to select and post that song for me, felt as a great support. That weekend I listened to all those songs a lot, cried my eyes out, and felt so much support from all of you. That's when I realized that the purple family became an important part of my life.

And now that he is gone, I really feel sad and feel the loss of a purple family member. Eventhough I'm just a newbie here.

Dewrede was very a present orger, even when he wasn't logged on wink

He left his mark on the org, and the idea that he will never log on again, is just sad.
