I'm home alone, middle of the day. I wanna watch my first horror movie, and I chose The Exorcist.

What's the verdict? Scary or not?

I read the book when I was 14 maybe? Scared the shit out of me

the movie, by the time I was old enough (and brave) enough to watch it, was already dated by then. Especially in terms of pacing. You, young whippersnapper are used to super fast editing and ACTION but this movie? sloooooooooooooow

I watched it again when the new scenes were inserted into it, and it seemed sloooooooooower again

It's not like movies from today!

I think The Exorcist is the kind of movie that leaves a lot to the imagination, and if your imagination is very active, you might be scared silly!!!

My kid who is 12, can't watch a scene with a darkened doorway, for example, he has to go hide behind the couch

I was either 13 or 14 when I saw it for the first time.

It was kind of scary I guess at the time. I saw the director’s cut a few years ago and thought it was hilarious.

Go and watch it if you want to have a good laugh. Especially the reverse spider staircase descent. I nearly pissed myself laughing.

Just watch the damn movie & find out for yourself.

I think it's scary. Not in the same way that movies are scary today, but for that time, it was.

I highly recommend the Director's cut, not some edited down crap.

I read the book at 14 as well, and it definitely scared the shit out of me. And I saw the movie a year later, when I was still filled with Catholic-school confusion, so it too scared the crap out of me.
