Richard Dawson, the actor/TV host most known for his hosting duties on the original Family Feud, has died from esophageal cancer. He was 79.

His portrayal remains underrated.

Aw actually I feel embarrssed I got him mixed up with the other guy from family feud, since he's the only face I rememeber from the show, so I thought he had already past. oddly, a part of me feels better given those circumstances. Well I remember him from Hogans Heroes which I use to love.

Though I grew up watching a different Family Feud host, I do remember Richard real well because he helped to make that show a classic. RIP

He was a hoot on Family Feud. That was my show back in the day especially when they had battles of the tv shows for a week. I didn't know he was British. Hogan's Heroes was my late dad's show and I remember him watching it all the time. Thinking back I do remember that he had an accent. I probably thought it was fake.

And you just know those heffa's lined up for Dick's smooches!! LOL OMG I get tickled watching him work it back then and now!

I'll always remember him first from "Hogan's Heroes", then from "Match Game", when he, Brett Somers, and Charles Nelson Reilly used to booze it up and crack jokes for the entire show, then lastly as host on "Family Feud".

My dad used to watch "Hogan's Heroes." Richard Dawson was my favorite Family Feud host...

I loved his role in the "Running Man".

Richard was the best host of Family Feud. No other host has even come close to his charm and charisma.

Contestants always chose him for the Final Round because Richard always had the Top Answer. Everybody else would have some wacky/goofy answer, but Richard always had a reasonable one; usually the right one.

I always liked Richard. Haven't seen him in years, but I hope he lived out his life happy and content. He was great fun on the game shows.

Game Show Network (GSN) is going to have a marathon devoted to Richard Dawson this Thursday.
