Calif. teacher resigns after leaving family for student

Enochs High School student Jordan Powers, 18, and James Hooker, 41, a teacher who recently resigned from Enochs High School, talk about their relationship on Feb. 28.

Modesto police are investigating if there’s a criminal case against a former high school teacher who resigned his job to move into an apartment with an 18-year-old girl he met while teaching.

James Hooker, 41, was placed on administrative leave Feb. 3 by Modesto City Schools and resigned less than three weeks later, according to a report at ...odesto Bee.

The newspaper reports that the man, who had taught business and computer classes, left his wife and children, to move in with Jordan Powers, an Enochs High School senior whom he met when she was a freshman at the school.

1.) You have no idea what type of family he is leaving. It could have been a great family dynamic or it could have been horrible and maybe leaving is the best thing that could have happened to everyone in this situation.

I agree althought I think the age difference is very dispicable. He's most likely the same age or older than her own father.

And he is moving in with her which means she, at age 18, is supporting a 41 year old unemployed man with lots of baggage.

Talk about damaged goods.

Why is questioning her attraction to him ridiculous? This hookup has made headlines. They put their business out there for the public to question. And looks do matter in many animal species.
