Just a few clarifications -

Mariah (Paris) Balenciaga and Carmen Carrera have yet to transition. Mariah is still a boy and as far as I know he intends to remain one and does the ball scene just as a performer.

Here's a recent (~month old) pic of Mariah and my fav queen Willam:

[img:$uid]http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/521715_10150735219119054_786374053_9362020_713011128_n.jpg[/img:$uid]

Carmen recently stated that she is on hormones, but has never had any surgery. Her deal is a bit strange as the husband she always talks about was/is heterosexual, fell for Carmen, and inspired Carmen's transition from Christopher Roman to Carmen (I forget her married last name - not Carrera or Roman).

She does consider herself a drag queen doing drag. Don't ask me how to figure that one out, cuz I dunno. I do know that when India Ferrah (fellow RPDR s3 queen) recently retired from drag, she went on a tirade and flung poop at Carmen. She then posted to her facebook list that "all [her] trannie friends should audition for RPDR because they are allowing trannies now." She and Carmen then got into a fight in the comments section before Carmen posted several items about different forms of drag, the fact she isn't transitioned to a woman, but she does apparently live as one?

Yeah. So just thought I'd share all that.

Yeah I have always assumed Carmen has had her hips pumped, but shrug

I mean I can't prove it even though it very obviously looks like pumped hips and breast implants to me. I know that queens can push their chestmeat together really good and pad it real nice to look like some ample tits... But I mean, I've seen pics of Carmen Carrera wearing a sports bra top. I dunno how you can pad that. Maybe you can! Just saying its always looked, post RPDR, that she has been the recipient of implants.

Even if she had, I wouldn't look at her "drag" any differently. All she does is the "Body Beautiful" thing and walks around naked. Can't hate on her for showing off that body - its insane.

The comments...

[img:$uid]http://i40.tinypic.com/2n7dvg0.jpg[/img:$uid]

And Carmen's post + argument.

This occurred last month when India quit drag and sold all her shitty, horrendous clown suits.

eek all that over a dumbass reality show ?

first India is right back in the day if you were a drag queen who pumped her hips, got implants and was on hormones folks would say you were transgender no days its dfferent they are letting girls who are clerly on hormones, with breast implants, vaginas etc particiapte in drag queen beauty contests and even perform at drag shows as if a drag queen could ever realsitically look that way without surgery.

well actually drag queens do fall under the transgender umbrella so do cross dressers , intersex people and others which is crazy to me because a fucking drag queen and crossdresser are men plyaing dressup i a woman not a man dressing as a woman to entertian straights folks for laughs

i think in more ways than one drag queens make a mockery out of me and other transgender women playing into the stereotype of the gay man dressing up so he can trap "trade (which is straight men) and thats not what i am but folks like carmen who want to get breast implants, hip injections, etc yet still call their selves men paly right into that ugh shit irritates me

btw rupaul is an a fucking asshole he has made plenty of disparaging remarks about transgender men and women i honestly dont care for him or his stupid ass show. Also he defended a racist skinhead who hates black people lol rupaul is an ass and honestly he seems to be ignorant to the discrimination transgender women face all over america.

I know there is very little love between the transgender community and RuPaul, but Ru has always showered the trans community with praise. He has consistently used Paris Is Burning as a reference point (he uses tons of catch phrases lifted right from the docu on his show). He has a pretty tough love approach to things and I know it gets under people's skin. He has always been big into genderfuck and he clashes often with transpeople who believe he is callous/indelicate.

Well, he is. He's certainly sassy, but I love Rupaul for what he has done for the gay community. I am proud of Ru and I believe, as a gay man who grew up with Ru in the spotlight and sorely missed his presence until Drag Race, that he is a shining example of how powerful gay people (men and women) still have the ability to be. He wields so much influence in the wink of his eye right now (as he did 20 yrs ago) that it reaffirms my strength as a gay man.

He also has supported Shirley Q Liquor, but... Honestly, when I lived in Atlanta, Shirley Q was a BIG THING for all races of gay men. He gets much flack for performing with dark makeup on to make himself look black (he is white but his drag persona is black and impoverished), but it's always been my opinion that Shirley Q is reverential as opposed to insulting. It's a celebration of how hilarious southern black grandmas can be.

I'm not black and I am very well aware how sensitive race issues are (especially when juxtaposed with a white person), but I can sense shade a mile away. I grew up around so many southern black grandmas that the minute I heard Shirley Q, it brought me back. I never laughed because she was poor or because there's poor grandmas out there. I laughed because there was a heart of gold inside every southern black grandma I ever had the courtesy of spending time with. At the core of the Shirley Q Liquor character is the same thing: a heart of gold, residing in a southern black woman who took care of all her grandbabies and they ate her out of house & home. Most grandmas go through that, most grandmas are this way, not just black ones. And not all black grandmas are poor!!

But, alas, I respect people's choices and if you stand for nothing then you fall for anything. Even if I disagree with it, I appreciate a strong opinion cuz it's an example of modern minds working things out. Presumably.

In my former drag life (entertainer/pageant girl batting eyes) I had many transgendered women friends (some I recently got to reconnect with thanks to facebook cool ). I competed against many a trans lady in pageants. Sometimes lost to and sometimes beat them. I never let a great pair of tits or hips discourage me, I just beat my face DOWNNN and brought my A game. loltease

But I always wondered at which point, as a trans woman (I hate to keep saying trans, because yall are simply WOMEN to me) do you stop or continue entertaining in drag clubs or competing.

I understand how it can be an extended thing as you transition and still hang out there and do the ocassional show because this is your FAMILY and it's a safe place. But when you live as a woman, do you still want to do "drag"? Like Sonique from Drag Race, she still performs in the drag shows at WEHO that Raven hosts and I look at her and am like, love damn, she should be a showgirl in a review, not be in a drag show.

You beat me to it while I was posting my other point/question because I thought the two together would be muddled.

This pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about Ru. nod

I've had the pleasure of speaking with him on a few occasions and even sat down at a cafe for a good conversation when I (hold up, Imma drop a Willam now) delivered my painting that he owns to him in the West Village. The painting is of Aunt Jemima with an LV dorag and her name is "Supermodel" (I painted it as a play/parody on the lack of imagery of women of color in fashion magazines/advertising etc). Ru loves irreverance. And yes, he can certainly be callous and indelicate (not that you nor I can be those things in the least lurking) and I love him for that. He is also very intelligent and passionate and eloquent.

Presumably.

[Edited 4/24/12 18:42pm]

Oh my god! The painting sounds amozzing and I don't even know what I would do if I could chat with Ru. I mean, I'd simply be starstruck. He was so ubiquitous in my formative years that I am nothing but brimming with respect and love for him. His success nowadays has galvanized the gay community whether ya love him or hate him.

I don't want OnJenae to feel slighted by my comments. I know that it is difficult, at times, to see someone "playing" a role you naturally fill. Its much like seeing a straight man play a gay man for me. I feel, why do we need this when there are so many talented gay actors!

But I think it's important for people to play with the rules/roles. I think its a celebration of gender, not a mockery of one. I think that sexual identity is such a massively SRS BSNS thing today that people forget how ugly we all look when we're fucking someone. Well, except Colby Keller. He's cute any porn I see him in. My point is, you can't take it seriously. You can't give other people that power over your identity. Your authenticity is your word is your heart is your soul and nobody can fucks wit it.

blunt Sorry, my dispensary delivered today.

I last spoke to RuPaul right as the first season of DR was in post production so I couldn't say about today but up until then anytime I had any exchange with him he was nothing but humble and gracious and just as interested in what I had to say in the conversation as I was the other way around.

Most drag coming from gay men does not come from a place of mockery.

My drag was a tribute to my fierce mommy and all of the fabulous larger than life women I grew up sorrounded by (and continue to sorround myself with).

It's the straight drag u gotta watch out for (shenaynay and a bunch other mess, hello?) wink

A long time ago (maybe longer than I was thinking) I'd shared drag stuff, but I will again. wink

And yes. My mom would come to my big shows/pageants and cheer me on. mushy She would get so nervous for me. It was very cute. giggle

I'd always drive to my gigs already painted/dressed. This worried her but she insisted that I let her see what I looked like before leaving. Usually I'd get a "You look slutty, but very pretty." lol

eek all that over a dumbass reality show ?

first India is right back in the day if you were a drag queen who pumped her hips, got implants and was on hormones folks would say you were transgender no days its dfferent they are letting girls who are clerly on hormones, with breast implants, vaginas etc particiapte in drag queen beauty contests and even perform at drag shows as if a drag queen could ever realsitically look that way without surgery.

well actually drag queens do fall under the transgender umbrella so do cross dressers , intersex people and others which is crazy to me because a fucking drag queen and crossdresser are men plyaing dressup i a woman not a man dressing as a woman to entertian straights folks for laughs

i think in more ways than one drag queens make a mockery out of me and other transgender women playing into the stereotype of the gay man dressing up so he can trap "trade (which is straight men) and thats not what i am but folks like carmen who want to get breast implants, hip injections, etc yet still call their selves men paly right into that ugh shit irritates me

btw rupaul is an a fucking asshole he has made plenty of disparaging remarks about transgender men and women i honestly dont care for him or his stupid ass show. Also he defended a racist skinhead who hates black people lol rupaul is an ass and honestly he seems to be ignorant to the discrimination transgender women face all over america.

I know there is very little love between the transgender community and RuPaul, but Ru has always showered the trans community with praise. well see that is not really my beef with rupaul my beef with him is he has made comments saying transphobia and homophobia dont exist and other insane comments he seems to live in this bubble world were transgender women dont get their heads bashed in daily , etc

the homophobia comment tripped meo ut also seeing as he is gay male but like i said he lives in his own privilged bubble world he got backlash from the transgender community with his comment that transphobia didnt exist, he likes it when people call him "tranny' etc thats the reason why msot in the transgender community dont like him . The shirley Q incident was jsut adding more fire to the flame that was already there lol but I do see your point

recently one of the girls i psoted in this very died a tragic death in a fire . I think she was murdered by one of her clients nobody knows for sure

r.i.p Lorena Xtravaganza

you should have read the disrespectful article the newyork times wrote about her its like damn not even in death can we get any respect

lol yes that drag is a mess honstly i dont have a problem with drag i jsut have a problem with gay males getting surgery liek breast impalnts, some even go as far as to get a pussy yet they still want to live there lives a men.

They are only doing it to pull "trade' aka dl brothas in the ballroom scene alot of the gay males think they have access to same type of men a transgender women would and honestly they do not which why so many of them throw on a wig, pump their chests and hips yet still present themselves as male trying to compete with us for "Trade"

THE FUNNY THING IS TRADE will let a gay male suck his dick but afterwards he might crack the gay males skull or even kill him becaus at the end of the day he despises gay males for the msot part so the whole situation is a mess to me

anyways pictures of you and your mom are beautiful i love your drag persona pic wow how long ago was that??
