Yeah, I have no idea truly about the family dynamics of this man's family, nor what he really is like.

What I said is my own personal opinion based on what I read. Just because you chose not to express an opinion about this, doesn't mean I have to do the same. I never claimed that my opinion is a fact. So you don't have to take it as such.

If you don't like what you read in my comment, take it at face value and move on.

lol

Or maybe you should just accept that comments on here are questioned and challenged. That's the way it works for everyone. An exception will not be made for you because you don't like certain responses.

Don't like that? Don't post in the first place and you won't have this problem. thumbs up!

Okay. You challenged it. Great. My opinion remains the same because your arguments didn't sway me to think otherwise.

Post challenged. Opinion noted. Post stays. thumbs up!

The whole thing is so Mary Kay LeTourneau-ish or however you spell her name. Just the idea of leaving your family and your job, ruining your standing in your community and your chances of getting a new job in the same field...things you've worked hard for... all for a lousy piece of underage ass. Well not underage considering this bimb is 18 but trust, he was probably diddling her long before her eighteenth birthday. No sane person falls in love over text messages.

Wow...this is all kinds of jacked up.

First of all, he met her when she was a freshman. (So...he had eyes for a 13-14 year old. That means he is a pedophile) It is obviouse that the relationship was inappropriate before she turned 18 as they had been texting, calling etc. and keeptingthat part of his manipulation of her secret.

This little girl is so misguided--her dad has also died. He took advantage of what should have been a safe teenage crush. Who hasn't crushed on a teacher here or there? But most of us would hopefull have had enough self esteem to be strong enough to screen out that he must be a creep if he pursued.

I'm sure her crush will wear off as soon as she sees his pubes turn grey and gets a daily wiff of his morning breath. Not to mention the fact that the presence of his children will no doubt divert all of his future finances; he is no longer "popular" because he is a pervert; his career will be less respected (as I cannot imagine he will be allowed to remain teaching); and she has just ended all hope of being able to socialize with kids her own age.

Then, there is the ethical side of things outside of the pedophile mind fuck. She was already stressed from "living a lie". Imagine what life will be like when she tires of the shunning from the general public, and deals with the embarassement of people asking if that is her dad. Who the hell would spend social time around them, especially once it is learned how these two hooked up? And this man has a daughter this girl attended school with to boot? Do you think she will proud of her new last name if they were to marry... "Hooker". LOL

This is not two consenting adults. This is a case of "I can finally publicly exploit her" since she is of age, after I've molested her as a minor. What would the consesus be if this was Elizabeth Smart falling for her captor? Same mind fuck, less extreme circumstances.

Well this is just dispicable.

Not so much the age difference dealy, but the fact he's leaving his family for what? That hussy!?

And what the hell she see in that man!? He ain't even all that fine.

I'll give it a couple of months before she leaves him for a younger man.

No morals in society today. NONE! disbelief

He isn't fine AT ALL. He's quite gross and average looking, and obviously cannot handle a woman, so he needs a kid that he can control.

1.) You have no idea what type of family he is leaving. It could have been a great family dynamic or it could have been horrible and maybe leaving is the best thing that could have happened to everyone in this situation.

2.) What makes her a "hussy"? She's a whore because she (however it happened) fell for this man?

3.) You have no idea what this man is really like so questioning why she likes him is kinda ridiculous...or maybe (going by your comment above) you think that looks are what's most important when choosing a partner.

I dunno, I personally think an older person being with someone this young is odd but I'm not going to pretend I know anything about how this all happened.

How anybody could try to defend this relationship is just crazy for a lot of reasons.......it would be ironic if they marry as her last name would then be "Hooker"

Here is one idea...it appears that he is a sick pedophile who has gone after somebody his own daughter's age--this girl went to school with his daughter. This man has broken teacher/child relationship boundaries.

Whatever we do not know, we know this relationship is inappropriate since he first met her as a 9th grader.

nod YES to all that you posted... well said!

But the part I bolded is why I am glad he is no longer teaching. How ANY teacher can abuse their position is just wrong.

Teachers should be about the business of teaching and mentoring their students and not treating the classroom as if its some sort of social club to find hook-ups. WTF

Again, I co-sign wholeheartedly and repeat what Ace said about being relieved this person doesn't teach anymore. Amen to that!

I've been teaching for 23 years, and I have NEVER looked at a kid and thought, batting eyes

I just don't get it!!! eek

A few years ago, one of my coworkers was taken out in handcuffs because he had been messing with a student. She was also 18, but that didn't matter because she was a student in the school at the time...

He didn't have to leave his wife- she left him. His son stopped speaking to him. He can't get a job, so he's been doing "odd jobs" since he got out of jail.

Who cares WHY/HOW they fell in love. Who cares what kind of home life he had.

The bottom line is that fooling around with a student is HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE.

I suspect there was some conduct prior to her birthday that would be enough to charge him with a sex crime. Texts or messages or emails if not physical. crime or no crime I hope the state pulls his teaching certificate. (leaving his job mid year should be enough for that)

in Texas it is a felony for a teacher to have a sexual contact with a student even if he or she is over 18. (I think until they are 22). One teacher found out the hard way! He got caught in his office with the girl and was fired. And he said on TV something like "this is nothing she is 18 and she was not forced..." and then a reported asked him something like "Well this past summer a law was past making it a felony...yadda yadda yadda" He looked stunned and walked away.

Why on Earth would a 41 year old man be interested in an 18 y/o..............and vice versa?

Worse yet, she's a young looking 18 and he is an old looking 41.

interesting observation: I have not heard her speak. Does she have a more child like (high pitch) voice or is it normal?

and i find it disturbing that they put her on the news! Her identity ought to be protected at some point she will hopefully see she is being abused and victimised.

An 18 year old (no matter how smart and grown up orgers may have been at that age) is NOT yet a fully grown individual mentally. They may appear physically adult, but their risk-taking behaviour and poor decision making prove otherwise again and again.

I would not in a million years place any kind of blame on her, the responsibility lay with him as a fully grown adult to let her know "NO" no matter how persuasive her misguided advances might have been (if indeed she "came onto him"). If he seduced her then I'M GETTING THE DOUCHE-CHILLS shake

weird, I didn't read her response as any kind of defence confuse

If Erin is like me then she wishes people would cool it and not jump to a conclusion that assumes the worst. All the info we have is from a couple of paragraphs of a news story. There is of course way more to it that we can possibly know.
