No regrets at all. I have 11 and plan on getting more once I'm working again. My nephews names & birthdays are tattooed on my arms. My 5-year old niece wants her name done.

Mine is really small. I got it in like '92 or so when they were still not totally acceptable.

I don't regret it, but now everyone has so many that mine looks like a five year old's tattoo. I might add to it some day, but I'm in no rush.

95% of ALL Tattoo's done are about a C- Artwork.

I am in shock that how many horrible "artist" there are in the tattoo industry

At 15 I wanted to get the tattoos I decided on when I was 18 but never ended up getting a single one. I really think the best average age to get one is at around 30, you don't always know life or yourself at 18, and you're stuck with that shit. I already have friends in their 30's who are paying expensive money to get rid of theirs. I wanted to get the mj HIStory symbol and the sankofa, but do I really want to be buried with that or any one particular tattoo (I considered religious symbols and meaningful numbers too) when there is more to me and my character than being a michael and janet fan? I nearly got an mj tattoo the year he died but was acting on emotion. Plus I'm terrified of needles and before it happened, would ironically joke about not being allowed to put under unless I was famous :*( if only I knew.....

I absolutely don't regret mine but not sure I'd get any if I had to do it all over again...shrug

Why?

I'm not the type of person that thinks my tattoos define me...I'm perfectly satisfied with mine, not ashamed of 'em, not worried about explaIning 'em to my grandkids...but for something I wanted so badly for so many years, I couldn't really care less now that they're there...I dunno, I just realize now that they're something that I could live without shrug

I have a tattoo of my face - on my face. My regret is that no one can tell my "face" is actually a tattoo.

Should I get it removed?

My first fish-slap! smile

I don't have any tattoos and don't see this old man getting any. Maybe if the tattoo fad had come around when I was young, but when I was young, only servicemen and convicts had tattoos.

Quick-yet-boring story: In 1982, there was an infamous incident at a Texas A&M/SMU football game that ended up with a Texas A&M Corps of Cadets guy pulling a sword on our male cheerleaders - after kicking one of our cheerleaders as he took part in an on-field cheer (apparently a big no-no at Texas A&M).

The male cheerleader he'd kicked on the ground was a guy who'd been a defensive end on the football team but blew out his knee. He was MEAN, and broke a couple collarbones in intramural football later on.

You know how we all knew he was the meanest guy in school?

He had a tattoo!

I think he was the only guy in school that had one and like I said, NO ONE had a tattoo back then unless they'd been in jail or the military.

How times change!

thumbs up!

I am old enough to remember those days...when only convicts and Marines had tats. nod

Back in the late 80's there was this "stockboy" that worked at Macy's who scared the hell out of everybody...he was a young white dude, bald (before that was a fad), built like the Hulk, and worst of all; he had a shitload of tats including some crawling up his neck.

lol Nowadays that could be anyone's dad.

I know I am an old coot, and I have gotten more accepting of tattoos, but I still think "gang member" when I see a neck tat.

boxed me too

wanna know something else?

If I ever do get a tat, it has to be something easily covered up in case I ever visit Honduras again.

They have a bad gang problem down there, and literally, ONLY gang members have tats.

Here's how weird I am:

If I got a tattoo, I'd want to make sure I could see it! I don't understand getting a tattoo somewhere that you can never see it, like on your back, or above the butt. And if I DID get one there, I'd have to get it backwards, so when I looked at it in a three-way mirror, it would look right!

Plus, if I got something on my chest, I'd have to get it upside down, so it would look right to me when I looked at it.

I am weird, I know.

I can just imagine the look on a tattoo artist's face if I walked in and said, "Tattoo a picture of Prince upside down on my chest, and also the lyrics to Let's Go Crazy on my back, but they have to be mirrored".

LOL.
