Why Do People Have A Problem With.....BREAST FEEDING?

I don't get it. Breast feeding is natural, normal, damn near essential and common among all mamals. Yes, humans are mamals too. So why do people get all ass itchy and offended when they see a woman breast feeding in public, particularly when she and baby are covered up?

And the woman has to do it. The milk will come out anyway, and her boobs will ache. More the baby cries, the more her tatas gonna leak. That's what my friends say anyway. Their boobs were ridiculously huge when they were nursing. Express yourself!

They have a problem with it cause they have sexualized breasts instead of remembering their function. I've even heard of women who don't breastfeed criticize women who do breastfeed and calling them uneducated or some mess like that. That's total ignorance because in most cases, breastfeeding is healthier and prevents diseases and builds immunity in the baby.

eek what do these women do with their milk? dont' they realize they are at risk for ovarian cancer and retaining their abdominal fat? never mind the risk to the poor babies.

Are women who don't give birth at all at risk for ovarian cancer too then? I'm not sure why they would not do it, unless it was for a health reason like having HIV or something.

I've read those women are more at risk for breast cancer. Go figure. I could see a woman forgoing breastfeeding if she is ill and would harm her baby but to not do it because you think its beneath you is the dumbest shit ever.

No, I just think it's an intimate act, that like anything else that involves nudity, should be done in private.

And no it doesn't necessarily mean you're anti-breastfeeding. I said this in another thread, but I was breastfed and my mom was pro-breastfeeding in general, but even she thought it was digusting for women to do it in public. I believe it's the best thing for a child too, and if I have any I'll definitely breastfeed, but I'd rather be dead than do it out in public, out of respect for myself, my child, and all the people surrounding me who may not want to be exposed to it.

I actually find women whipping out their boob in public and latching a child onto it in full view of everyone, incredibly ignorant, vulgar and crass. And it's apalling to me when they actually have the gall to feel self-righteous rage about their 'right' to do it when people express their discomfort with them doing it.

Shitting is a natural, necessary bodily function too. That doesn't mean it's okay to pull down your pants in the middle of a public sidewalk and take a dump right then and there.

And the 'my tits are swollen and my baby needs to be fed' stuff is a bullshit excuse. That's what breast pumps and plastic bottles are for. Pump the shit out in the privacy of your home, put it in bottles and refrigerate it. Then take it out with you and your kid, and if they need to be fed? Bottlefeed them. Save the tit for at home.

Simple.

This is interesting to me yet very odd. Why is feeding an infant with mother's milk (the only food they can digest at a young age) considered an intimate act? It sounds as if you indeed associate the breast with something sexual.

Why would you rather be dead of all things than feed your child in public? Are you more concerned with public reaction?

Lastly, and maybe you were being sarcastic, shitting is nowhere near the same thing as breastfeeding. To compare the two is in fact an insult to your child as you would compare them to well....a piece of shit. Shitting is about excreting waste material which can be hazardous to the public depending on the amount and who were to come in contact with it. Your breast milk would not negatively impact me but your poo just might.

Now let me ask you...if a woman pumped her breast as opposed to latching a child onto it..wouldn't that be more um...distracting or vulgar and crass?

i agree with alpha, we have sexualized the breast and not recognized nor appreciated it for its true function. I mean we don't care when we see a female dog nursing her young. Ive seen dogs with bigger tits than women.

I have no problem with it as long as the mother is covered. Yes it's a natural act, I just think it's a private act, much like using the bathroom, which is also a natural act. I mean wouldn't people be offended if a woman just pulled down her panties in the middle of a park and changed her maxi pad or tampon while she was on her period (which is also a natural act)? Just sayin'.

But I don't see the comparison between pullling out a maxi pad and seeing a baby being fed. I mean most people are probably squeamish about blood as it is yet alone vaginal blood. Who will hand her some tissue. What if she got an infection and it stinnks up all of downtown?.

Oh my faint

The comparison in my eyes is that both situations are very private. Both expose private parts. To me my breasts are private. With the exception of cleavage, they shouldn't be popping out in public.

i agree with alpha, we have sexualized the breast and not recognized nor appreciated it for its true function. I mean we don't care when we see a female dog nursing her young. Ive seen dogs with bigger tits than women.

Because it's someone whipping out their titty in public, which is something I don't wanna see. Doesn't necessarily mean I automatically think 'sexual'. That's something you're projecting onto my comments and says more about how you perceive breasts than I do.

And I don't care what you say, but to me as well as a lot of other people, yes, breastfeeding is a very intimate, personal bodily act along the lines of taking a shit. You may not see it that way but so what, it isn't about what you think and no the world doesn't have to conform its views to match your own to pacify you.

And I meant pump your tit at home behind closed doors. Not break out a breastpump in public, which should've been common sense to you. If I have a problem with people breastfeeding in public, why would I suddenly be cool with the idea of them using a breastpump, instead?

You can insist whatever you want but that the end of the day to a lot of people it's just not something we wanna see, period. And all the foot-stomping and ranting in the world won't make us feel differently. And any decent person should take the feelings and comfort of the people around them, into account, and realize it's not just about them and what they want, and have the decency to do it privately instead of shoving it down everyone else's throats because you think it's 'beautiful'.

End of.

You think cleavage is fine, but dont like breastfeeding. It seems as though breasts arent your problem, you just don't care to see nipples.

I'm not so sure I agree with studies saying those who don't breast feed or have kids by a certain age are at risk for cancer. I'm sure it has happened, but it has also happened to people who have had children or way before the age of getting diagnosed commonly. I believe most of the time, these research studies are biased against the female sex and we are still seen as baby producing machines.

I don't really see people get offended about it, sometimes it's just weird when women hide their breasts normally, then are not at all shy about whipping it out with a baby. It's hard to avert your eyes, and it's hard to not avert your eyes.

I have to notice because I am a man, but then I feel bad for noticing, then I think it's okay to notice but not too much...

I have no problem with breast feeding in the public what so ever and I was so lucky to live in a country where it was okay to breast feed in public, untill this summer where a guy opened a restaurant where woman weren't allowed to breast feed.

Of course they shouldn't just whip them out but try to cover it up to not upset people that aren't that comfortable with it and they shouldn't do it while other people are eating right next to them.

But as other have written I think the problem is that people have forgotten why women have breasts. People associate breasts with something sexual and in that moment there is nothing sexual about it. My sister even told me that the women she met at the hospital after she gave birth had problems breast feeding at the hospital infront of nurses and other mothers.

And the human race is here to reproduce just like any other animal on this planet. So yes the female sex is a baby producing machine - biological speaking.

In most situations it wouldn't be difficult for a woman to steal away for a minute, or at least hide her nipples while feeding.

What I find extremely offensive is someone who let's their boobs hang out in nice restaurants and enjoys other people watching. Especially when the boobs look like pancakes.

Thank God most women are discreet and do not see breast feeding as a way to gain attention.
