But in America, you're all foreigners smile Except the native Americans of course.

It's funny, in the US we recognize eachother by what nationality we come from, but overseas they call us "gringo's" which I'm told means 'very good friend'.
So we got that going for ush...lol

...my last name is hispanic, and since the Spanish invaded America 200 years before the English did, then I guess it's not really "foreign". lol

BTW - in case you're ever on Jeopardy - the origin of the word GRINGO comes from the war with Mexico. When the US invaded Mexico, the people on the streets would shout at the troops, (refering to the color of their uniforms); [color=olive:b2dd864183:5fbfe82262]"Green Go Home! Green Go Home!"

Funny...now it's the Americans telling the Mexicans to go home!
So the troops had 'good friends' in Mexico...hmmm, that's good to know. In case I'm ever on Jeopardy. wink

My last name is pretty stock – Wilson, so no stories there. My first name, though, is actually a fairly uncommon Dutch surname, and the only other person I know of with it as a first name is my father. And, boy, have I experienced the gamut of jokes, mispronunciations and misspellings! I used to dislike my name, but I love it now.

Does it bug anyone that most street names or city names are not only European, but English? The country has tons of Hyde Parks, Coventries, Avons, etc. But if we’re a “melting pot,” where are the Mussafar Roads? The Levine Boulevards? The suburbs named after great cities in Asia and subSaharan Africa?
