My ear is making a pop noise

Since last Monday My right ear has been making a pop sound whenever i yawn or swallow. The thing is,it doesnt hurt at all.At first there was a ringing in my ear and I thought i was going deaf. The ringing is gone but I still hope im not going deaf.I looked up ears pop and theres sum people who have this condition for 10 years.LAWD help me! if thats my case.Has anyone on here had the pop or crack sound in your ear? and if so how long did it last? im going on 4 days.I also went to the doctor and he said i wasnt going deaf but i 4got to ask how long it lasts. The pop sound went away the other night but came back when i woke up the next day. The doctor perscribed me to 2 kinds of medicine. Some Nasal spray and sum pills named Amoxcillin.

It's fluid in the ear.

What is amoxicillin?

Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic. It fights bacteria in your body.

Amoxicillin is used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria, such as ear infections, bladder infections, pneumonia, gonorrhea, and E. coli or salmonella infection. Amoxicillin is also sometimes used together with another antibiotic called clarithromycin (Biaxin) to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. This combination is sometimes used with a stomach acid reducer called lansoprazole (Prevacid).

Ear infection? Possibly wink

My ears always pop.

In my case, it has to do with the fact that I have narrow eustachion tubes in my ears so they are very sensitive to changes in air pressure.

I also have horrible sinuses, so like Erin said, fluid in my ears contribute to the popping.

It's annoying, but not painful, except on airplanes or diving in deep water, then I get sharp, really, really sharp, pain until the pressure equalizes.

I'm firmly planted in denial

Either way it goes there is an infection there-make sure you take all of your abt as directed. It does make a difference and helps to prevent resistance to the med in the future razz

It's unlikely to be fatal. Take your meds and do what your doctor recommends.

I never had Sinus trouble until I moved to Okla and Texas-just shit in the air lol When I lived in Michigan I was breathing lovely. I have tried every prescription for it and nothing helped, but those cheap little red pills from the dollar store lol Zyrtec, Claritin, nothing worked but those pills lol

if I have a cold, a plane ride is HORRIBLE, last November after flying to Cairns, I was deaf for 12 hours after landing

Once I had a lot of noise in one ear, and it was just a big old ball of wax lol

Had you taken any Excedrin prior to your ear problem? That stuff can cause hearing loss; says it right on the label. About 15 years ago it made me deaf in one ear for a couple weeks. As my hearing slowly came back there was that popping you described.

It could be a variety of things. When I was a teenager, I felt the same way and went to the doctor and it was a wax buildup so they flushed my ear out. When I was in my 20s, my ear was doing the same thing and I went to the doctor thinking it was another wax buildup but it wasn't. It was sinuses built up and backed up into my ear and they have me some ear drops that I had to use for about a week to break it up.

It could be several things so just go to the doctor and see what it is.

I used to get scared and read in medical books and search the internet looking for the problem. You can scare the hell out of yourself that way because a lot of more serious things may have the same symptoms as something minor. The only way to relieve your mind is to go to the doctor and find out what it really is. I remember rushing to the emergency room one night thinking I was having a stroke and it was absolutely nothing. My doctor told me to stay the hell out of the medical books and the internet. lol

I've had the "condition" for almost 30 years. Hasn't killed me yet & I lead a happy productive life.

Do what your doctor says. If you're unsatisfied with the results see another doctor.

And yeah, be careful reading medical stuff on line. It can provide good information, but it can also make minor symptoms look major, like vainandy said.

30 years is a long time.Do you have it every single day or for periods at a time? Ive decided that I'm gonna take the rest of the medicine. The doctor only gave me enough for 5 more days.I'm also gonna give it 2 weeks and if it doesnt go away Im gonna call my local ENT(ear, nose, and throat doctor).I hope that doesnt cost a lot.

I've had a tapping in my ear for the past week. The doctor says it's a blocked Eustachian tube probably caused by my sinuses draining. He put me on a prescribed antihistamine and nasal steroids. It has helped. Now I only really notice the tapping at night when I'm resting or when my heart rate increases. I'm just thankful that there doesn't appear to be damage to my ear.

I have it 24/7. I don't take medicine for it as it won't fix the narrow eustachian tubes. I take medicine as needed for the sinuses and I use a neti pot to rinse my sinuses.
