True Blood Season 4

Season 4 starts on 12 June 2011.

Such a long way away!

Can't believe it will be 4 years!

I've heard some casting news, but don't want to spoil it for anyone if anyone's even thinking about it.

lol

doh! edit

After the gigantic suckfest of Season 3, I can wait. Hopefully I'll have forgotten how bad it got by then.

I'm hearing a lot of people say now that they didn't like Season 3. This surprises me. I think they dropped the ball on a lot of opportunities, but I didn't think it absolutely sucked. And nothing could be worse than the whole maenad fiasco of Season 2, as far as I'm concerned. disbelief

I will say that with The Walking Dead claiming lots of undead aficionados, Alan Ball is gonna have to step up his game.

I've heard some casting news, too, but since I don't read the books I have little idea of what these new characters will bring. Goodlooking additions, though, I'll say. sexy

See, I loved Season 2. I thought Mary Anne was awesome. I loved that actress in Battlestar, and I loved her even more on True Blood. And they created some good suspense in that season. But Season 3 was just dull as dishwater.

Agreed about Walking Dead, but it looks like the two shows won't really be competing for viewers. Talk is that Season 2 of Walking Dead won't come on until next Halloween (although that could change, and hopefully will, because it's a really stupid plan).

Yep. It hasn't been decided yet, but it's definitely under consideration, according to this article, which is all about how they fired the Walking Dead writing staff yesterday (the Season 2 news is at the very end).

Hot.mess. I suppose the source material and Darabont's consistent presence will offer a certain memory from episode to episode, but this is going to quickly become all Darabont all the time. I don't know him very well. Is he that trusted in Hollywood? Should he be?

I don't know him at all. Apparently he wrote and/or directed The Mist? (The remake from a few years ago.) Other than that, all I know is that the commenters at that link sure don't like him, but that doesn't mean anything. People on the internet hate everybody.

All I know is I hate long waits for TV shows that I like.

I didn't think season 3 sucked, it's just that the season finale wasn't that exciting and I expected a bit more resistance from the King Russel. Love the scene at the tv station... "and now for the weather" after he tore the spine out of the weatherman.

Looking forward to season 4.

I barely remember season 3, but I didn't hate it. The Franklin storyline was pointless and horrible to watch, and it was clear they had no idea what to do with Sam. I'm hoping there'll just be lots of Eric next season.

It's a very silly but fun show... but the let's see of The Walking Dead grows into a phenonemon... it seems a bit more stable (but is that a good thing?)

just the thought of 4 weeks of a wait let alone months is making me sad

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I think Season 3 was a lot of campy fun for the most part. The problem is that this show

just doesn't know how to end its seasons. Season 3 finale was a whole lot of meh! And I didn't care for either Sam's or Lafayette's storylines.

I think you're right. In fact, I'd say the show has weak climaxes altogether. Lorena and Franklin's true deaths should/could have been extraordinary! But they fizzled. Russell Edgington's unraveling, wreaking of absolute chaos and ultimate defeat could have been Emmy-worthy! Instead, aside from his news broadcast, it all was just... OK. shrug

I hope Ball and company really learn how to give us payoff moments in Season 4 that will blow us out of our seats!

Season 1's ending was fantastic though!

I just think that AB is trying to put too much into the seasons. He's putting in stuff from the books then adding in stuff of his own. Too busy and it makes for endings that fizzle.

The cliffhanger was definitely a killer. timeout I'll agree there.
