What are you BEST at COOKING? (non-cooks welcome too!)

What are you best at cooking, huh?

Perhaps you bake? Perhaps you stir-fry. Hell, some of you might be good raw vegan food preparers.

WHAT'S yOUR SIGNATURE DISH?

(note: For those of you who do not cook, please just describe your genitals. I don't want to leave you out.)

I hate cooking...i have to do it nearly every day. I hate thinking of different things to make that the kids will eat.

But i can cook, and i make yummy things like

Lamb Roast with Veggies and Gravy

Lots of salads, all types

Pastas ... bolognaise and Vegetarian

Home made pizza

BBQ's...Fish, Marinated Chicken, skewers, rissoles

Home made kebabs

Satay chicken

beef and black bean sauce with veggies

plus what ever else i feel like getting from my recipe books

And cake i like making cakes too...but they r mostly from packet mix....occasionally i make them from scratch.

i cook because i have to, not because i want to confused

I'm pretty darn good at my own personal version of thai curries (and some indian curries as well) and stir frys. I'm REALLY excited to take some classes when I get to Thailand to see how I can improve and what new things I can incorporate.

I made some BBQ mock duck sandwiches for a picnic a few weeks ago that my boyfriend declared "impressive".

I make a pretty mean risotto too.

And I can bake really awesome brownies.

Basically, just about anything I put my mind to I can cook well. I just have to decide to make it.

OH, and I make a really great dish out of lentils and brown rice and I caramelize onions in olive oil. And salt and pepper. I can't remember what it's called. Super easy, super simple dish and yet it's out of this freaking WORLD.

And I make a really good veggie noodle soup. I make lots of good soups, actually.

And I make AWESOME roasted vegetables, of all kinds.

I can't think of many things I'm not good at cooking or baking. I'm not a chef, by any means - just a very, very good cook.

Yeah, that. I know I'm sometimes an opinionated mf'er, but I'm actually pretty humble about most things once you get to know me. Cooking on the other hand, I just rock that mess. lol It's also one of the few things that makes me truly happy on any kind of consistent basis. Especially when it has to do with anything grown in my garden.

I make kick-ass Arroz con Pollo and Arroz con Gandules (with roast pork).

Today I made this really yummy "confetti" potato salad. Looks weird in the photo (those are blue potatoes) but it's drool I guarantee it.

lol Easily removed. Does it have cabbage in it? For some reason I'm seeing cabbage. I definitely see the egg, carrot and potatoe. Love the color combination of the latter two. I've been messin' around with purple and orange cauliflower lately. So awesome for presentation. They just look cool on a plate.

Does this place have a damn shrug emoticon? And why is it so dang difficult for me to locate smilies here? mad lol

I wish I were a better cook. I'm good at following recipe directions, but I'd love to have a natural gift for throwing things together.

But I do rock an awesome homemade chicken pot pie. That would probably be my best dish.

I usually look for recipes online and troll the couple of foodie magazines I get for ideas, but then alter them to what I think might work better. After a while, I don't need to look up the recipe anymore and I've customized it to my preferences.

Now, occasionally, I still have a disaster. lol But after practice that happens less and less. Your instincts become more honed.

I'll google a few recipes for the same thing, see which suits best quantities of stuff I have in the pantry and how many I have to feed, then start substuting stuff where I see fit. I rarely follow a recipe to the letter these days either.

Yes there's one of these: shrug lol

There's like 4 different type of taters (Trader Joes sells them mixed) ,shredded carrots, onions, celery, eggs, a bit of bacon (like you said, easily removed from prep), sweet mustard, yellow mustard, paprika, light mayo, regular mayo (so that I don't taste the light one lol), salt and parsley.

I think that's it.

OH! I don't make it often but also make really good Pastelon. drool

[img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/pastelondeplatanomaduro.png[/img:$uid]

The beef filling is cooked to have a very distinct taste (don't think hamburger or lasagna it's quite different in taste)

The outer is made from ripe plaintains.
