What should my friend do in her situation?

Ok my friend Sara is in a relationship...it has only been about 6 months and now the guy does not have a job, he sells pills and has become incresingly violent.

I told her she should just end all communication; however he has her LAPTOP.

Should she call the police and grab it from his house or should she just chuck the ties and walk away with a loss?

Serioulys, I wouldn't care on bit about a laptop. She should run like hell and never look back. There are just too many people in violent abusive relationships that need to get out now. If she calls the police they can perhaps get the laptop back for her. If not, just go and get the loser out of her life for good.

If she has enough money to just buy another one, I say cut her losses and let the loser go with her laptop, however, if she's tight on money right now, she could call the police to get it back, however, that could start some unwanted drama between the two. shrug

he hasn't stolen the laptop so it's a civil matter. surely she can see him, make an excuse to take the laptop, then not see him again and keep the laptop

she can then call the police on him

has he ever been violent to her before?

surely she can do this in a way to keep him happy thinking she is coming back, and he doesn't get violent?

laptops can be replaced. lives, cannot. she should cut her losses.

if he's dealing drugs, she could be guilty by association.

she needs more self esteem to recognize this as a toxic relationship, one that no one deserves.

Depends what's on the laptop. shrug

Both, if she can. Bring the 10 friends!

Most importantly, end the relationship ASAP and not get deeper and deeper in with this guy. He's no good.

if there is nothing on that thing that is irreplacable she should just walk away. If she HAS to have the laptop I'm not sure what she should do actually. Is she still friendly enough with him at this point to ask for it back so she could use it and then cut off all ties, including moving if possible?

Kick that loser to the curb like a snot rag! Tell your friend to forget about some heap of metal and delete all of her online accounts from another computer. Report the laptop as stolen to the police. If need be...get a restraining order.

And if she goes back to that troll then please don't post it here cuz it will be nothing nice by way of commentary.

If she's still on speaking terms with him, she should get the lap top back by saying she needs to do some research or something. Take the laptop out of his house and never see the fool again. If the laptop is old or if he's messed it up, she should chalk it up as a loss and move on. She can always buy another laptop but never another life.

Ok...You guys are GREAT! So she has been texting him and he is avoiding the topic about the laptop so we are going to all go over there soon. I guess he lives with his step dad and he is not always there all the time.
