BEST EPISODE YET.
i have been kind of on the fence on this show. it started off strong and then got a little silly. tonight's episode BLEW me away. the script was incredible, and god bless the writers, who seem to have realized it is better to go more surrealistic instead of trying to make it seem real. the songs were excellent, the supporting characters got well deserved spotlights, and it was a breakthrough moment for that redhead, whatever her name is. excellent episode. i kind of wish they hadn't shown it last week, as it kind of killed how much funnier it would have been in context and new... but i loved it. shot for shot remake with little twists. very funny. definitely the most surreal moment the show has seen, but i think trying to pretend this show exists in any kind of reality is the wrong way to go. glee's a comedy. you wouldn't know it from some of the last few episodes which got way too serious with the fake pregnancy and rach/finn thing, but... Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

having the boys sing "what it feels like for a girl" was clever. brings a whole new level to that song by having the boys sing it. Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

http://www.youtube.com/wa...qTiA_LyV3k [Edited 4/20/10 19:53pm] last week's was awful. the "hello" songs thing was one of the most ham-strung plot lines ever. i was ready to be done with the show after last week too. the show started strong and got half-baked for a while. if they can keep it on the level tonight was, they'll be golden. Theer are certainly parallels to Cop Rock, but the difference between Glee and Cop Rock is that Glee is a comedic drama/musical and doesn't take itself too seriously in the first place while Cop Rock tried to be as serious as NYPD Blue when they weren't doing musical numbers. Plus the fact that the show is set around a high school glee club naturally lends itself to musical dance numbers. BTW, I wasn't quite sure how they would handle a whole episode of Madonna tunes, but they did it very well.

I don't watch this show at all.I assume it's a musical-type show about high schoolers who walk around campus singing songs?? Sorta like High School Musical?

No...not like HSM all that much, aside from the singing. It's far more satirical/subversive comedy. And its wonderful. (but I expect nothing less from Ryan Murphy). =0P Brace yourself

I'm not even a Madonna fan and I thought this was the best episode yet.
I like the ones where you see a brief glimpse of Sue's more heartfelt side, like the bit where she was talking about growing up with her handicapped sister and them trying to bleach her hair with household chemicals. Also Tina's freak-out to Artie was excellent [Edited 4/21/10 7:35am] |

I was on the fence about this show but last week's episode was VERY hard to watch. Cringe worthy squared. I told the bf that after the Madge episode I was done. Now I'm not so sure. I really enjoyed the episode. And it went beyond the cast just singing Madonna songs but it was REALLY all about Madonna. The real Madge songs in the background, the empowerment plot, the high schoolers running around in various Madonna era costumes. Did you all catch the "Who's That Girl," Madonna? Hilarious. All quite fantastic. Plus, the writing is just funny. When the gay dude and the black girl go into Sue's office with their offer: "I'm gay and she's black and we make culture." Plus, their rendition of "4 Minutes" was perfect. I always pictured a high school or college band playing this song. Anywho...much, much fun. Anywho...much, much fun. same here. sometimes i like, a lot of the time i feel apathetic to it. modern family is the standout new show for me. the "hello" episode was terrible. so cheesy and so poorly written. this episode was such a redemption. now i am committed for at least the rest of the season, something i wasn't before last night. the 4 minutes was better than the madonna original, imho. my favorite was the "human nature" latex catsuit madonna wannabe, spanking the toy dog with the riding crop. i had to wind it back and watch it repeatedly it was making me laugh so hard. 'Glee' exclusive: Madonna sequel in the works! by Michael Ausiello Categories: Glee, News, Scoop Image Credit: Michael Yarish/FoxGlee is heading back into the groove with Madonna. The afterglow from last night’s smashing (and highly-rated) Madge-themed episode has barely dimmed and already series creator Ryan Murphy is talking to the Material Girl about a sequel! Murphy confirms that he’s in discussions with M’s camp and that “Madonna and her people are into it and want it to happen.” The follow-up would air early next season and feature six more songs from the pop icon’s immense catalogue of hits. (There’s talk that fans might be able to vote on which tracks should be used via a poll on Fox.com.) The Glee-Madonna marriage has already reaped huge dividends for both the show and the star. Tuesday’s episode attracted a potent 13.5 million viewers, down just 5 percent from last week’s record-setting spring premiere. Additionally, the soundtrack from the ep is currently No. 1 on iTunes and two of the singles are in the Top 20. The power of Madonna indeed. Thoughts? Is Glee smart to stay in business with Madge? And which hit should Sue tackle next? “Human Nature,” perhaps?

GLEE’S MADONNA POWER LANDS AT #1 Third Columbia Compilation Beats Out AC/DC for Top Spot April 21, 2010 The combined Power of Glee and Madonna will result in a chart-topping debut for Columbia’s third compilation of songs from Ryan Murphy’s pop zeitgeist show on Fox. With last night’s episode revealing Sue Sylvester’s lifelong obsession with the Material Girl, as well as seven set-pieces incorporating some of her biggest hits, Glee: The Power of Madonna will bow at #1 on next week’s chart with a total of 100-120k. That’s based on one-day sales reports from retailers around the country who haven’t transformed their stores into Jamba Juice locations. With the album #1 at iTunes, and six of its seven tracks in the Top 100, including “Like a Prayer” at #3, it remains to be seen how physical retail will react in gauging its final total
