Yes. I get to eat a lot of great plants. I don't have to support factory farming.

Yes.

The main benefit for me is that I reduce the amount of harm, pain and suffering in the world. I can feel good about my choices when I go to sleep at night.

And there are sooooo many yummy things to eat!

Saving money -- the cost of meat is expensive. (That's not why I'm a vegetarian, but it's a nice extra.)
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

No. I am allergic to legumes and nuts, soy, strawberries, and citrus fruits and pineapples. I would not be able to get enough nourishment from what I can eat. I only eat poultry and fish, though.

My sister is a vegetarian. She had intestinal surgery and can no longer process meat and dairy. sad

I'm not, but my wife is so we have a lot of vegetarian meals.

I have become much more aware of where the meat I eat comes from, try to stay away from any corn fed beef, most chicken, and eat meat given to us by hunters

I honestly can't see any point to a non-vegetarian eating tofu. Seriously, what dish is tofu better in than meat?

Yes. I've been a vegetarian almost half my life now, and a vegan for nearly a decade.

The most important benefit, to me, is that I don't pay people to torture animals in factory farms. You can say that without being a vegetarian, if you buy carefully, but I find it easier to just avoid the foods altogether.

I am also healthier than the rest of my family by far. The rest of them are all on blood pressure and/or cholesterol meds. My numbers are perfect. And I feel good.

Then there are the environmental benefits. Eating meat every day is like driving a Hummer, in terms of climate impact. Industrial agriculture is also terrible for our land and water.

It's a choice I continue to be happy about.

But, the death, destruction and extinction that's the result of agriculture as we know it is nothing to seek solace in. We need to restructure food on this planet. Instead we're designing predator drones, etc.
