Best movie/sequels of all time?

I'd consider Rocky I thru Rocky 4 as the best movie/sequels of all time along with the Godfather. U?

Airplane and Airplane II.

Also, the Star Wars saga gets respect, as does Lord of the Rings, due to their nature as trilogy sets.

Back to the Future and Back to the Future II was good, III not so much.

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

Batman Begins/Dark Knight,
as well as
Batman/Batman Returns.

Also, Saw/Saw II
Matrix Trilogy
Indiana Jones I & II (III is ok, IV is meh)
(original) Star Wars trilogy

=0P

PS. Kill Bill, to me, doesn't count, as it was filmed and originally planned as one film. If I were to count it, it would be on the list...

My personal Rocky favorites are Rocky 1, Rocky 6, Rocky 2 and Rocky 3...in that particular order.
He never should have done part 4 and 5.Part 4 was a commercial success but I hated the storyline and the soundtracks to both of them.Rocky without Bill Conti doesn´t work well,IMO.

I forgot to mention Mad Max and Mad Max 2.

Star Wars...all of them, except for the Phantom Menace.

The GodfatherI, II, III
( yes, I might be in the minority but I really like The Godfather III , too...it is not as bad as people say, it´s a great movie).

Terminator I, II, III

Batman Begins-The Dark Knight
( great, GREAT movies...I hated the Tim Burton Batman movies...Michael Keaton simply isn´t a convincing Bruce Wayne or Batman).

Totally agree with you. Everyone rails on that movie because of Sophia Coppola, and while she was definitely not the right fit for the part, the real train wreck in that movie is Andy Garcia's over-acting.

Either way, the story and execution are perfect to me. I think Paramount and Robert Duvall not working out a deal to have him in the 3rd installment was probably the single dumbest movie history move (on both parties) of all time.

Other great sequels are Rocky 2, Toy Story 2, and The Color of Money (even with Tom Cruise)

I would pick Aliens and Empire Strikes Back as the best sequels. They both were true to the story, but arguabley better than the first films.

while ESB is in fact on of the greatest sequels ever, I don't fully agree on that "true to the story" part. ESB morphed the force from an ancient religion and philisophy into some Voodoo hocuspocus, which it is was not supposed to be in the beginning. I remember seeing it in the cinema when Luke was trapped in the cave hangin upside down... and then out of the blue making his lightsaber jump into his hands. I was like "what the fuck was that?!" sure, after seeing all the sequels over and over again one gets used to the "new force". still all this magic tricks and Kung-Fu schnickschnack was not the original intention hmph!

You are the first person in over 30 years that I have ever seen saying they thought The Exorcist 2 was a good sequel! Probably since it's release in 1977.

I have to disagree. That didn't change the concept of the Force from "an energy field that surrounds us and penetrates us," plus the Force allowed Kenobi to sense the deaths on Alderaan, and to persuade the troopers to let them pass at Mos Eisley.

Lucas didn't mess things up until he made the Force a biological, cellular trait in "Phantom." That's when it went from being a spiritual concept to a genetic one.

You won't find many Star Wars fans even who don't think "Empire" was a worthy successor.
