4) My "church" and her "church" are different places. I live 1100 miles from her. We met at once church almost 20 years ago. I've not been to that church since about 1993. She's not been there since 1996. So your anti-church argument is invalid.
5) Me being gay has nothing to do with her decision to remain chaste until next Friday evening.
6) Good for you, your church is the best in the whole wide world, ever. Sounds like every other church who thinks they're the ONLY church worth attending. I grew up in a church like that, and I've long searched for a group of people that did NOT have that mindset. It's great your church is gay friendly. I wish more were, but don't judge me, or my friend, for decisions we make.

So what, she's a virgin. She didn't sleep with a hundred men in order to get to the one she's going to call her husband now. Why is waiting so "scary" (a stupid term; as if you're going to run away if you were to meet her in person)?

In a more general way, I'm not sure why certain folks seem threatened, or down right hostile, toward 1) a woman they don't know, and 2) an idea that really shouldn't be so foreign anymore, yet is an alien idea. Someone waits until they're married to have sex? Is that REALLY such a "scary" idea, as Huggie put it?

What's scary is those who claim to "celebrate diversity" are the first to judge when someone isn't the same kind of diversity as they are. How fucking hypocritical.

and her 90 year old neighbour has remained a spinster her whole life as well. While obviously I'm not chit chatting about sexual history with a 90 year old I think it's actually not so unusual.

Well, as an update, my friend did get married this past Friday. She was so beautiful. Apparently her and her new husband both love "The Princess & The Frog" movie, partly because of the interracial relationship. (Remember, she's black from DC, and he's white and from Revel, France.) One of the photos she uploaded on Saturday was a Diptych type photo, one side of her and her husband in a dance pose, and the other of action figures of The Princess and The Prince from the movie, with Gale and her husband's ring around either of their necks. I asked her if she actually found a cake topper for Princess and Frog from the movie, and she said no. She went and bought the action figures to put on there. It was just so perfect, and fun, and very HER.

I've actually gotten a couple of emails from her since Friday night (you'd think they'd .....you know.....all the time), and all is well. She said they got tons of gifts, and I would be between Sleep Comfort breaks, they're organizing Thank You cards.

I have been a bit mournful all weekend about the whole thing. I've only know her as a single gal. I met her when I was 23 (that just blows my mind), and she was 32. I'm 41. We've just been through so much together. I realized one thing that she taught me was how to NOT be racist. And she taught me by just her being herself. I wrote a whole blog entry on it that I might post separately on the Org. I'm sad that I no longer have a single gal pal, but I'm excited to see how she changes with being married, and what new adventures life and God bring her and her husband. I know they're happy, I know they are truly put together by God, and I know she's a bit knowing of things she's never been able to experience to this point.

Now, if only I could tell her I'm gay.
