I lost it all....

My computer caught a hellified virus. Boyfriend had to rebuild it. He has been telling me for a month now to get the important stuff on a back up disc.

Well of course I hadn't got around to it. I lost all of my airchecks, my commercials, my interviews, my bits, my drops, and all my audio production effects. This year I started a little in house audio production business to get my foot back in the door (got REALLY burned out from radio and walked away for two years).

Well one CD was salvaged, the other with all the GREAT Jay-Z, R Kelly, JadaKiss, etc interviews was a CD that was lost in my move here to GA.

It is such a metaphor for what life is bringing me lately. pooh

But the good thing is, I have LOADS of tapes of shows that I have not gone through in 5 years. But I will NEVER recover that Jay-Z interview. I'm really torn up about that. And my award winning commercials, and my imaging auditions....dammit I'm so mad at myself!

Back your shit up and file it away in a safe place!

I lost a whole bunch of shit earlier this year.... or at least I thought.
I was able to recover a great deal of it.

But I learned my lesson anyways--always back it up to another drive, cause until we live in a beautiful flash-drive world (a few years off), we need to back up our shite.

cry Sorry to hear that KittyKat.

My life's work is documents I've created over the last 10 years. I'd be fucking SCREWED if I lost it all. Hence, my shit is on a backup drive and TWO different computers. I try to update everything once a month.

Man oh man. I'm going to just go through all the tapes and put them all on disks and file them away. I've been so sloppy and half assed for the last two years. Just don't know what it is. Combination of frustration, rejection, lackluster career, stop in career, this is just reflective of how my state of mind has been.

The thrill is gone... I listen to my old stuff...what's left, and look at old photos and really wonder where did she go? Shit.

Will make the best of what I have and make some bangin demos. Should help to re-ignite the fire....I hope

Dude that Jay-Z interview was literally two days after he kicked R Kelly off the tour. DAMMIT!

I am positively heartbroken to hear this news... really! I backup my crap (and it really is mostly crap...) every 6 months or so becasue I once lost a HD to some random failure. I had SO much music and photos on there disbelief

I still have that HD in a box somewhere in the hopes that someday when data recovery service become less expensive I hope they can salvage something... Did you save that old HD??? beg

Anyway, just know that me heart goes out to you right now, I recall actually weeping when I lost my stuff...

Make sure next time that you have an external hard drive to back up your important info. They don't cost much, and you can get a terabyte (1000 GB) drive for less than $100. I save all of my info on my external hard drive, and if I lose everything on my computer from some virus, I can always reinstall from my external hard drive.

BTW, did you get that god-awful Windows Police Pro virus on your computer? That nearly destroyed my computer, and I had to reinstall my whole Windows program from scratch. mad pissed crash

sad I'm sorry.

I bought an external hard drive about a year ago -- 728huey is right; you can get one with a lot of space for less than $100. I think mine was about $75 and it has all my Prince videos, photos, and music rarities lurking with tons of space left.

You should also make dvd copies and keep them in a second location in case something happens to your external hard drive.

Can you call the radio station that broadcast the JayZ interview? Or maybe try to get in touch with his company to see if they have a copy of it?

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I was almost there! I have the other half of my material on another CD, but the GOOD CD was somehow misplaced. What I thought was the other CD was actually an old class project. Uff.

Seriously, I just need to set aside 20 minutes a day to record and edit this stuff down in cool edit and back it up and file it in my home office.

Really pissed at myself for being so lazy. uff!
