Guess I'll be bucking the trend here. I'd do it. Not just for some random person, but if it were a friend in need I would. They're at risk of being made to leave the country, they need a beard, whatever. shrug

Seriously, it's not as if you have to prove to officials you're actually in love, and if we had some sort of arrangement or understanding where we could see other people -just like many, many married people do already, I might point out -marrying for convenience is definitely something I would be willing to do if it were for a person I cared about.

No...because there's no guarantee they would want a divorce. razz

I was asked by a good friend at work to fly to Cameroon, Africa, to marry her uncle so he could come to the US. Her family offered me $10,000. I was like eek ..are you nuts? As much as I could have used that money, what if he didn't want a divorce? Then I'm stuck with a stranger because if I tell anyone I'm in deep shit too. So, no. Sorry. Hell, I don't even want to marry guys I do like.

Nope, but I know somebody who is 100% being taken for a ride so his wife-to-be can stay in the country. It's transparent beyond belief

Some will take the person for a ride because the person that is being duped is their ticket into the country. Desparate people do desparate things, especially when they have to go back to their home country and knowing they won't qualify according to the immigration point system they will be rejected. So the easiest quicky for them is to dupe some man or woman into falling in love with them etc.; and working on them to get in.

Border agents and immigration deals with those "marriages of convenience" every day. They are not dumb smile
