SCNDLS inspired JARGON thead

please list your "word" or "non word" and it's meaning so the less fortunate can understand what the heck you are talking about. for example what the heck do the Brits call diapers?

And lawd know us black folk got a hundred different "non words" we use to express ourselves.

Lemme see . . . I notice that a lot of Southern folk tend to add "ses" to the end of words that end in "t" to pluralize them. Nene does this shit CONSTANTLY

For example, tests becomes "testses" and twists is "twistses"

Why is it that black folks have so many made up words?

I mean white kids do it too, but let's face it...some of my favorite words are 'jankity' and 'boo', and I don't think these words originated in white suburbs.



I can't stop saying jankity. I just can't. I will NEVER EVER stop using that word.

Being the son of an Asian woman straight off the boat, I have sooooo many made-up words in my library, it's not even funny.



My favorites are:

POSELY -- it's a catchall for the words 'mostly', 'especially', and 'exactly'


Enganize - it replaces recognize and realize


Wine-up - It replaces "winds up" and "eventually".. Also sometimes replaces "turns out"

I work with a woman that writes lefted all the time. Drives me insane. Then she claims to have been a teacher..... Come to find out she was a room volunteer and not a teacher... When you write lefted on documents, you worry me. She also writes paste instead of pace. Like pace yourself, she'll write paste yourself.

In NC we say fintah (fixin'). Instead of "fixin'" like my deep southern brethren and sithren, we made it fintah. Like "you fintah catch a beat down!"
