Yes, we got the yard stick on our ass. Me, not that often. My brother got it a lot. The yard stick was broken over his ass a few times.

My dad once hit me on my head so hard it knocked me out of head--it was an open hand slap, but with brute force---albeit, that was the only time he touched me, as I was so scared of him growing up that I didn't ever argue with him.

My Principle paddled me at least 2 times a year.
