What was billed as Italy's first gay cruise took place last month, and by all accounts it was a resounding success. There was just one small hitch: Somehow a heterosexual couple ended up on board -- and they weren't at all happy about it.

News outlets in Europe this week are all atwitter over the story of the Italian couple, who now are suing the cruise line after reportedly being flummoxed by the experience.

The UK's Daily Mail today reports the middle-aged husband and wife, who have not been named, said they booked the trip directly with the line and claim they were never told of the gay theme. The couple's lawyer tells the news outlet all 1,500 passengers on the ship were gay and events on board were gay-focused.

The Daily Mail reports the couple's lawyer says they were embarrassed after spotting people they knew but had not realized were gay on the ship. The three-night voyage on a Grimaldi Lines vessel went from Civitavecchia near Rome to Barcelona.

If it was set up by the cruise line as an all gay or mostly gay cruise complete with altered themes they should get a free cruise.

If I was accidentally put on a Cruise for Jesus, I'd make that shit work somehow. evillol

I do feel they should be given a free cruise of their choice. I'm not sure about the TRAUMATIZED part.

Unless it was the S.S.Fister or something like that.

Honestly, I can totally understand the 'traumatized' part lol

Gheys can be NASTY as hell at all-gay events. So I don't think everyone can just 'enjoy it'. lol

I mean, most people when placed in a fish-out-of-water situation can be traumatized. I know I'd slit my wrist if it was a Hanna Montana themed cruise or something.

Sorry, I have to disagree.
Unless there was a full out open air orgy poolside in the middle of the day and the buffet consisted of ass I don't see the traumatized part.

I'm sure there were "parties" in folks rooms. I'm sure there were open displays of affection. Sure. But claiming trauma, for real, not as an expression, is totally idiotic.

From your point of view john.

Some people are traumatized by hetero open displays of affection..or children..or whatever.

I can totally understand it.

You have seen me react to hair scrunchies. Trust me--people react to things in their own ways.

But they should only react as I see fit. fit

I just think trauma is a big word.
So are they gonna need therapy? That's the intensity I relate to that word when used in a serious manner. And if it's being used in a legal case I'm assuming they are using it in the most serious of manners.

Unless the cruise was sponsored by some porn site, I don't think the cruise would've been THAT bad.

Gays will be gays though. I'm curious to hear about what they considered traumatic.

They should get a free cruise.

Yeah I do not get the "traumatized" thing at all.

But if I booked a cruise and it was themed with out due warning after Star Trek or Garth Brooks or Micheal Jackson I would want a refund or a free cruise.

It is not about the people on the boat it is the altering of the standard themes and shows of a cruise.

Exactly. They weren't notified, they should be compensated regardless of what theme it was.
