Would you let your son play with a doll? I don't mean a action figure,I mean like a baby doll?

Can you explicate a bit more why this would be harmful in the first place?

If I had a son and he REALLY wanted a doll, but I wouldn't let him leave the house with it...I wouldn't want confrontation or someone calling him a bad name in his face. unlucky7 reincarnated

I had Batgirl, Wonder Woman and Supergirl dolls to go with my Superman, Batman and Robin dolls when I was in grade school. My cousins totally laughed at me for having girl dolls. Kids are mean.

It shouldn't be an issue. I'd be more against letting boys play with guns and other weapons than with dolls. grammar edit [Edited 10/12/09 15:25pm] C:\Otaassk~.exe The new best Prince M&M thread ever: http://prince.org/msg/7/323876 vivid is my new boo!

It shouldn't be an issue. I'd be more against letting boys play with guns and other weapons than with dolls. I never got my kids toy guns or even told them what guns were called, yet they fashioned their own out of duplo at the age of 3 or 4 and called them shooters When I was 16, I fully expected to be able to build my own KITT car.

But now that they're 11 and 12 years of age, they both wanted 'Swiss Army Knives' because boyscouts use them. She obliged I'm not against masculinity in boys. I also acknowledge and am quite comfortable with the fact that there are stark differences between boys and girls wired into us, and there's no way to change it. But to me, violence is not a 'masculine' feature, but a primal, lower level one best suited for our ape ancestors. There's no black and white about any of this, but the idea that playing with dolls makes your boy a sissy is outdated to me. As I mentioned before having a doll or teddy bear teaches them to nurture something--that can only be a good thing. Of course, when I was a kid, I used cut the heads off some of my toys abridged to obliged edit [Edited 10/12/09 15:41pm] C:\Otaassk~.exe The new best Prince M&M thread ever: http://prince.org/msg/7/323876 vivid is my new boo!

Of course, when I was a kid, I used cut the heads off some of my toys I have done terrible things to Barbie dolls In tribute to Diva Zappa's snot woman doll, I had one I sprayed with automotive paint, which never dried and left the doll a (rather nice) metallic blue melted mess.
