IMO, it's a society thing - you know, blonde hair, fair skin & blue eyes is considered to be the standard of beauty in America. To me, that's B.S., but a lot of folks buy into that Madison-Avenue shit.

Why not? It's personal preference, who cares?

nod

I love a good hair color change now and again.

I haven't done it in ages, but it gives one a fresh perspective.

I got the most male attention when I was a blond (even though I think it looks best red), true story.

Because most people who are naturally fair-haired have actually a pretty non-descript tone to their hair. Dyeing it "blonde" is thought to give it a little bit more character. I do have to say though that I like the non-dyed fair hair colour too, around here it's actually something of an alternative look for women. A very large percentage - if not even most - Finnish women would seem to dye their hair blonde, even if they were naturally fair as well.

I was born with blonde hair and blue eyes. Why should I somehow feel ashamed to be what I am?

So because this is the case (which I'll concede), every woman who decides to color their hair blond is buying into some Madison Avenue shit? Get outta here with that. I'm well aware of the false beauty standards that are pounded into our collective consciousness, but that doesn't mean every woman who chooses a certain hair color is a brainwashed bimbo.

What am I buying into when I dye my hair darker than its natural color? I thought I just liked the way it looked.

There is something creepy about a woman of a certain age having long, blond hair and from the back your thinking "wow" and then you see the face and she looks like an old prune.

By the way did you know natural blondes/red skin type age faster than brunette types?

I think it's creepier to think that every head of long blonde hair is gracing the head of someone you want to objectify or hit on confused Gross...

As a black man, I have to say that (please forgive me in advance), certain races who shall remain nameless, but you know who you are, should NOT dye your hair blonde, it looks entirely stupid.

It is what the hell it is.

I don't know about anybody else, but I dye my hair to try out the look. I've been every natural shade there is, and most unnatural ones as well. I'm quite fetching with green tresses, I'll have you know.

As far as colouring hair blonde goes, the only objection I have is middle aged and older women doing their hair a very light shade. It tends to look more like grey than anything else. After a certain age, if you're going to dye your hair blonde, pick a darker tone.

A friend of mine, natural brunette (and looks way better this way) has been ‘A Blond’ for the past two years now.
Her new 'thing' is to go blond down there too. eek
My reaction was W.H.F but she said that she likes all over coverage

I've never even been tempted to go blonde.

As dark as my hair is, I'd have to color every three weeks. And if I did that, I wouldn't have any hair left. lol

Back when I was doing radio, a bizarrely large number of men thought I was blonde, just based on my voice. (Not sure why - that's just what they told me.) But I don't think blonde hair would suit my personality, at all.
