MrsGoodnight's cake thread (Prince O(+> cake added)

My daughter's Christening cake! After about 3 weeks of planning, tutorial watching, book scouring, then 4 days of baking, whipping (whip), rolling and modelling - here it is...




... now, be kind, it's the first cake I ever made...








We had the christening on sunday.. unfortunately I have no decent shots of the little lady herself - I was so busy running around, organising, heating food, pouring drinks and generally playing the hostess etc and no-one else thought to pick up the camera rolleyes I'll have to do what I did with my eldest daughter and dress her back up in her gown and take pics at home thumbs up!

Thanks guys! It's not how I thought it would turn out but I'm pleased with it. I was loosly based on the invitations I made:



It was rather yummy too - chocolate mud cake with chocolate butter cream filling. Lots of people came back asking for more... so there's none left! Sorry hug

Your cake is adorable!!

Lately, I've wanted to make a cake using fondant.

Since it would be my first time making a cake with fondant what do you suggest. What tutorial did you use? Was it helpful? What were the recipes that you used? Any helpful hints that you learned along the way?

that cake looks too nice to eat...you did a great job hun thumbs up!

the last cake i did was 2 store bought sponges put on a foil covered board when the rugrat turned 8 boxed
