Did you drop or otherwise traumatize the thing? If so, you're cooked.

If it just sort of happened (though I'm not sure how that'd be possible confuse) -- and you're still within warranty -- I'm pretty sure Apple will give you a new screen free of charge.

No i didnt drop it... i dunno how the hell it happen, i just woke up this morning and voila. I took it to the mac repair store and they said it didn't look like their was any abuse done toward it. He said it may be difficult to have Apple cover it but its possible. I'm gonna call tomorrow and pray that they will cover. My warranty is not up until next year around nov.

Are there Apple Stores around you? It sounds like you should be covered at any authorized repair place, but I've found Apple Store staffers, perhaps because most of them are also college students, can be very sympathetic to stuff like this and take up great effort to appeal to Apple in your behalf.

I've never spent a dime on Mac repairs while under warranty (even when the problems may have been my fault redface), and when my Extended Applecare Plan was once about to end and my laptop developed one final issue, a couple of the kids at the Apple Store instead of ordering another fix actually got the company to send me a brand new (and upgraded) replacement MacBook for a machine that was already about 4 years old at that point.

Apple Stores have incredible customer service, I've found.

nod they've even replaced parts on my old lap top when I was even out of warranty out of sympathy. As a single parent and student it was greatly appreciated nod

If it's not covered by warranty, you could consider repairing it yourself. I replaced a broken 15" screen in my nephew's Samsung laptop ths morning.
I bought the replacement screen on Ebay and it only took about 20 minutes - not bad for my first time fitting a laptop screen. It works perfectly now.

I haven't worked on a Macbook before, but if it's as easy as my nephew's one, I'd give it a try.
Doing that would probably invalidate the rest of your warranty but you'll pick up a new screen for about $70-$80. Some difference between that and $800!
But like Lammastide said, try getting a free repair or replacement from an Apple store first.

Shit, goddamn!
Get off yo ass and jam!

A simular thing happened to my screen -

It started with one line about 2 months ago and has gradually increased to 18 (so far).
I figured that this one is old now anyway, so got a new one... but I haven't used it yet - I much prefer this one!

Fingers crossed that they can repair it under warranty for you.

Go Fast!

I'm trying to get a Mac Book. The one I really want is rather pricey, but I'm in dire need of a laptop. I can't open anything but my web browsers and the still act a little funny. I think it's almost done for good. I think I might just get a $200 HP or Dell for now....they're brand new at the jockey lot. A coworker said that the man who sells them sells stolen ones shhh , but I need something to hold me over until I get a Macbook.
