The tobacco industry has always pointed to people who smoked for decades without problems as proof that their product was not harmful. Obviously that is not true, but it is true the smoking doesn't kill everyone who does it. My Great-Grandfather smoked for 80 years and lived to be 103 years old. His wife smoked just as long and she lived to be 102. Some people just don't get affected by cigarette smoke.

if u think that humans are only rational thinkers i would admit that a person who smokes though smoking could kill you has a suicidal tendency...

Really whats the difference if a person stuffs cheeseburgers and fries in their body and never exercises? They all know fried and fattening foods are bad for them, yet people eat them everyday multiple times a day... im just sayin...

Whenever a child is born into the world, the only certainty is that one day it will die. Life is a death sentence.

So, whenever somebody tells you not to smoke around their children, point out to them that they've already condemned them to die by creating them in the first place.

Everybody should smoke. We're all going to Hell in a handbasket anyway.

Of course it's not suicide. I smoke, but I don't want to die. Doing something that increases the chance of dying sooner, is not suicide. Suicide is the desire for an end, the only last option.

I don't smoke to remove myself from this earthly life. My intent is not to die, so the act of smoking is not suicide as far as I'm concerned. I would think that if you wanted to kill yourself, there would be much more time-efficient methods for getting the job done than smoking cigarettes.

But it's dangerous, for sure.

If it were then so would be eating McDonalds, not exercising, drinking too much, living in a polluted city, driving a car, skiing, sitting at my desk for too long, etc, etc.

I know smokers who also exercise or eat well. So doesn't one healthy act factor into the situation, or do we only count the unhealthy act?

That said, I think smoking is a very bad idea.

Smoking probably wouldn't be so bad if the cigarettes didn't have all that other shit in them. Honestly, I look at the people I know who smoke cigarettes and the people who smoke weed, the people who smoke cigarettes seem to have an addiction, spend more money on their stash and are at higher risk for lung cancer.

Though I agree there is something different about cigarettes. When I smoked weed I could go jogging immediately afterward, but not after smoking cigarettes.
